Although riveting at times, seemed to drag at others all the while not giving a complete picture of the character. The Japanese felt that soldiers should commit suicide rather than give up or be captured. Therefore they had great disdain for prisoners of war. Not that any were well treated but some worse than others and after the war it became clear just how badly Japanese POW's had it.

One area where this movie exemplary was the soundtrack. The aerial scenes were completely enveloping and immersive. I wish Memphis Belle had that level of immersion.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

It might be the shortest of all the movies at 2hrs and 24 minutes.

Cape Fear

"From the director of the Departed" on the bottom of the artwork.

The name is Scorsese

Definitely interesting. Still trying to decide whether or how much I liked it. Scenes that went on and on, funny one minute, dark and disturbing the next, very unusual. Glad I saw it, probably not something I would seek to revisit.

Raging Bull...masterpiece.
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies...not so masterful and the magic was completely devoid.

Beyond The Lights

I did not like it as much as DJariya did.

Some of the acting was questionable outside of the leads.

Unbroken

It was ok thought Angelina Jolie could have done a better job directing.

I liked the Coldplay song at the end of the credits.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I had no problem with movie or running time and rather liked it despite all the neg criticism.

Halt and Catch Fire: Season One. AMC really should have named it something else, the obscure computer reference it makes is lost on about 99.9% of the American populace. A fine period drama if you were around for the early years of the personal PC revolution.

The Gambler

Mark Wahlberg as a college professor?

Oz The Great and Powerful

Why did the picture for the first 20 minutes of the movie have to be in a small square?

I believe they did it for effect, and to replicate the original WoO which was in B&W for the first reel.

And used a 1.33 aspect ratio for those scenes.

The Immigrant

It was ok but I liked The Yards, We Own the Night, and Two Lovers the other James Grey films better.
