re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

Spent New Years Eve with David Lean, who was very good company.

Then last night watched

The world dies with a whimper. The plotting was not quite what I was expecting (had expected most of it would take place on the sub).
An interesting companion/contrast to something like Day The Earth Caught Fire- though I found it difficult to really get into due to an intermittent audio synch issue. I didn't think I'd had that problem as I spot checked it when I first got the disc. But it slipped out of synch about 15 minutes into the film and stayed like that till the net to the last reel. Very frustrating.

Michael Shannon is underrated. I would take him over Tatum any day.

Val Kilmer must not be happy he is doing direct to video releases while Tatum gets big roles.

But doesn't Kilmer have the reputation as being a real asshole? I think any problems with his career are self inflicted.

One of the select titles I've upgraded without ever having watched the DVD once in the 12 years I'd owned it. But after seeing the film again last night, I was obviously in my right mind when I did it.
Wonderful little film that reminds me that the satisfaction in practicing your particular art, whatever that art may be, is it's own compensation.
And it's yet another case where screen caps skewed overly greenish, while the actual image on the screen was damn near perfect.

Another very interesting later Hammer horror- this dealing with post traumatic stress as a trigger for the films body count. The ending could have been a little stronger but otherwise a solid entry, fascinating for how atypical it is in a lot of respects.
Another excellent job by Synapse- with much appreciated reversible jacket art containing a great NSFW cover illo.

The Equalizer

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The Family Man

The first time I got a flipper with a Blu-ray on side and a DVD on the other.

I thought it was close to a classic since NBC showed it annually for a while in December.

The artwork is terrible.

Shirley MacLaine plays a woman obsessed with La Dolce Vita in this geriatric romance, also starring a still wonderful Christopher Plummer. From the director behind Il Postino.

Really enjoyed watching this a second time around. Jane Greer was great as the femme fatale.

Viva Zapata. Didn't really get into it but nice price from the Fox sale a bit back.

Is that the swimming movie with Terrence Howard?

The One I Love

I heard it had a Twilight Zone vibe but I was not into it.

Band Of Brothers Last Patrol, Points.

Just finished my annual viewing of my favorite Blu-ray. I have seen BoB a dozen times and I still get choked up at the end.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
All the praise was well deserved for this one. Great action and fighting scenes. I also liked the chemistry between Chris Evans and Scarlett specially the humour. The guy playing Falcon was great too.
