Only made it about halfway through then turned it off. I found the character very unlikeable. He was supposed to be an activist out for the little guy. But his activism gets in the way of legally fulfilling his job and a client suffers because of it.

I, the Jury. Well written by Larry Cohen, and I've always loved Armand Assante, who gives a very good hard-boiled performance in this one. The plot is a little convoluted, but overall I enjoyed it. Almost felt like a more racy Chuck Norris '80s movie, only better written and much better acted...Hoping to watch another movie written by Larry Cohen tonight, Best Seller, but first need to watch the Jets/Wild Game 2...Go Jets!

Not a giant soccer fan, but I've been slowly working my way through the Blu-Ray ESPN 30 for 30 boxset, so I watched the following...
30 for 30: Soccer Stories - White, Blue, and White. Pretty good documentary about some Argentinian soccer players who happened to be playing for Tottenham in England when the Falkland War broke out. Probably would've worked better as a short, but it was okay...
30 for 30: Soccer Stories - Hillsborough. About a crazy soccer stadium collapse that caused a ton of casualties...This is a feature-length documentary, and will go down as one of my favourites of the series...Had never heard of this story but was glued throughout...Someone like Paul Greengrass could probably make a good dramatic movie out of this, if he so saw fit...
Then started checking out some of the soccer shorts...
30 for 30: Soccer Stories - The Opposition. While I'm familiar with Pinochet's coup in 1973 in Chile, I had no knowledge about how the Chilean team ended up qualifying for the World Cup, with the USSR boycotting the match in Chile...Thus, in order to qualify, the Chilean team still had to show up for the match (despite no opponent) and score a goal...Pretty sobering, but perfect at 22 minutes...Made me remember some Costa-Gavras movies that touched on the subject of American-supported coups in South America...
30 for 30: Soccer Stories - Maradona '86. Have definitely heard of Maradona, but didn't know details about him. Another great short at 22 minutes...
30 for 30: Soccer Stories - Ceasefire Massacre. I remember watching the 1994 World Cup as a kid, but I had never heard this story (I remember the Columbian player scoring on his own goal, and what happened after that, but I somehow never heard about this story about Northern Ireland)...One of the best 30 for 30 shorts I've seen...I almost feel that this one could've been expanded to a full 51-minute episode, but oh well...

Solarbabies. I'm all for '80s movies in this vein, but this one I could not stand. I love The Goonies and The Wizard, but this one kind of reminded me of Explorers, in that it just didn't draw me in at all. Happy that Jason Patric turned into a great actor, but I doubt he's that happy having this movie on his resume...I just didn't like it...And I'm an '80s child...
Riot. 1969 movie starring Jim Brown and Gene Hackman (who were both phenomenal...and Mike Kellin was great, too, and remains a very under-appreciated actor...check out Just Before Dawn if you don't believe me)...The movie took a little bit of time to get rolling, but once it did it was great, especially the last half-hour or so...Also includes some pretty risqué stuff for a movie from 1969...I really enjoyed it...
Now it's time for some playoff hockey...

It was ok. The goat voiced by Kate McKinnon was the best character.
I remember somebody posted earlier were bored and fell asleep during this movie.

Although I enjoy a few of the key films like "...Solange" and "...Daughters", I've never been a big Giallo fan. Nor I do care much for any of the Fulci I've seen beyond "Zombie".
This one not only held my interest, I probably found it more compelling than either of those other two classics TBH.
Interesting characters, solid red herrings, some very 70's anti PC earthiness, and nice use of a rural Italian locations.

The first time I saw this, while overall I enjoyed it, I also found it sloppily crafted and, sadly, wildly overrated.
This second viewing, I could isolate my complaints about what I saw as clumsy construction to mostly the first act on Themyscira and within that to the several exposition dump/montages. I still find them awkward, even if they are necessary, but other than that the rest of the film flowed much better for me this time. In fact, I think I appreciated every single aspect of it much more this time around.
Far and away the best film for a DC character since the original Superman.
I just hope the sequel doesn't back slide.

Best Seller. Brian Dennehy was great...James Woods was pretty good. The plot is a bit far-fetched but it's a good enough movie, with some good action scenes. Just like another Cohen written movie, I, The Jury, the plot gets a little convoluted, but it's an overall entertaining movie.
The Lady from Shanghai. I like a lot of Orson Welles movies, but felt this one was underwhelming. The plot is a bit non-sensical...It still has a lot of great cinematography and direction from Welles, but I don't believe it's worthy of the praise it routinely gets...I'd take Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil, or F For Fake over this one any day...And there's much better film noir movies out there...Maybe my expectations were too high...
The Invisible Man. From Univeral's Classic Monsters Blu-Ray Collection. One of the better Universal Monster movies...The special effects actually look pretty good even in today's modern times...I liked it...And I feel at an hour and ten minutes, it's the perfect length...Solid movie...

Dracula. The original 1931 version. Interesting. It's okay, I guess. Not as good as Frankenstein. I'd be interested in listening to it with the Clint Mansell and Kronos Quartet score, as it was unusual seeing a movie with essentially no score...In terms of Dracula/Nosferatu movies, my preference leans towards the Herzog/Kinski collaboration...Still glad a I watched it...Now onto The Wolf Man...was going to watch the Pens/Flyers game but it looks like the Penguins are running away with it...

The Wolf Man. Very disappointing. I thought this would be one of my favourites out of the Universal Monsters movies, but sadly it was a giant let-down. Lon Chaney was good, but it just never hooked me...It's stunning how little the so-called Wolf Man actually shows up in this movie...Oh well...at least I've watched it now...Going to take a break from these Monsters movies and watch something else...

American Graffiti. Been meaning to watch this for a while...Finally sat through it...It was okay...Not mind-blowing or anything...Best part was the guy driving the yellow car...Didn't really care for the rest of the movie...Another movie I'm glad I finally watched, but now that I have, I could care less about...

Took three sessions but I finally finished the tv cut of Superman. Lots of neat little bits but certainly not the version to watch every time.

All the Money in the World. Wow, absolutely hated this movie. "Inspired by True Events" is right, as it plays extremely (almost recklessly) loose with the facts. So much stuff is made up in this movie that I'm surprised they bothered to "base it on a true story." One of the least compelling kidnapping movies I've ever seen. And while I usually love Michelle Williams, I thought she was beyond terrible in this...And Wahlberg brought nothing to his role...Such an awful movie...Can't believe the Blu-Ray had a "Fresh Tomatoes" sticker on the cover...Totally undeserved...Don't waste your hard earned cash buying this one...Wait til it's streaming...

Molly's Game. Also disappointing. After Tree of Life and Take Shelter, I thought Jessica Chastain was destined to be one of the greatest actresses ever. Since those movies, she's done nothing but disappoint. I did not care for her in this movie. I didn't like the book it was based on. I usually like Aaron Sorkin but this wasn't that good of a movie. Only good parts were the roles played by Idris Elba and Kevin Costner...Aside from them, the movie was a waste of time...And it's wayyyyy too long...Also picked up Phantom Thread so I'm watching that next...Maybe that one will be good...
