Holy Shit dude, you joined on September 11, 2001? I'm surprised anyone could even get online that day.

Disappointing. Felt much longer than the two hour runtime.

I liked They Came Together and the Meloni bathroom scene was hilarious.

I bought it at Amazon

Brick Mansions It sucked. Sad to say but Paul Walker is not a good actor.

Are You Here It had its moments but I can see why it did not get a major theatrical release.

The Fault in Our Stars usually don't go for this genre but it was not bad. Maybe the appearance of Dafoe helped.

Horrible Bosses it seemed funnier the second time around

From the last two weeks

First ep from

The standouts for me were Russian Ark, which was absolutely one of the most unique movies I've ever experienced, as well as finally seeing Dial M in 3D. I've seen that film many, many times before but the added sensation of the 3D was like seeing it again for the first time- only better. The 3D not only impacted the visuals, it actually seemed to give more depth to what has always been a very slight, stagey narrative. I can honestly say I've never enjoyed the film more than this last viewing.

Also had a lot of fun watching the underrated, Saturday matinee style '77 version of Island Of Dr Moreau again. The quality of the Bd (from an HD master provided by MGM) was very high- a big improvement over the DVD release from the early 2000's in every way- showing off the island setting, John Chambers make-up, and leading lass Barbara Carrera all to great advantage.

The '79 Dracula is a big favorite too. But while it was possible to reclaim some of the original color by adjusting the display settings, it was still only a frustrating approximation of it's natural look.

Finished up Season 3 of Walking Dead for second time.
Tried Muppets Most Wanted but shut off half way through it. Like the first but couldn't get into this one.

Arrow Video's Night of the Comet. The overlooked 80's cult film hits the UK in a disc nearly identical to Scream Factory's American edition, except with superior compression. I must have seen this film multiple times since a local channel used to play it regularly back in the day.

Major league crush on Catherine Mary Stewart from that movie. Remember that from HBO. Watched it every time it was on.

It wouldn't be a Zulawski movie if it didn't have multiple scenes of characters hysterically flailing about like retarded spazmotics for no real reason.
At least in this film, at one point, for one character, there is some reason (though it still goes on too long to the point of begging to be mocked).
I was kind of dreading this movie as I've struggled mightily with some of his other films and I fully expected to regret this purchase. But, given how much positive WOM this has had from it's fans, I was just to curious not to check it out. Turns out it wasn't nearly as awful as I expected, though it was still plenty taxing. Using the umbrella situation of the alienation of affection in a relationship made it accessible, and the promise of the off-the-wall exploitation elements showing up eventually, kept me tuned in.
I won't be selling it off anytime soon as I would like to delve into the extra material at leisure and try to glean a little more of what the director was trying to express exactly. But for the most part, it's going to be hard to convince me the end result isn't still just a lot of artsy fartsy horseshit.

The US Mondo release is supposed to be superior, but the A/V quality on the Second Sight release here was pretty damned impressive.

If you're a fan of the film and don't have one of the Bd versions, you're in for a treat whenever you upgrade. The bump up in quality and res from the AB disc is about as massive as these things get.

She's the main reason why it has any cultural cachet at all. The new interviews found on the BD reveal she has held up remarkably well over the years.

Godzilla

I agree it was too long and not enough Godzilla scenes. It was hard to see him since it was pitch black for almost all of his scenes.

Major disappointment.

I was completely wrong on this one. Everything I saw leading up to it's release made it look like a colossal piece of crap. I haven't been a fan of Singer's since SR, and in a way I was almost rooting for this to fail. But this was flat out amazing. I'm still a big fan of First Class and this was not only a very smooth transition from that film, but an adaptation of the spirit of the source material that is extremely thoughtful and reverential to the characters while at the same time deviating wildly. It was the best of both worlds because the film never felt like a laundry list adaptation where I'm mentally checking off plot points I already know well in advance.
Can't rave about this one enough. I greatly enjoyed both CA:TWS and GotG, but this one impressed me more. Hell, I thought what was accomplished here was even more impressive than Avengers.
'Bout the only thing I can criticize is that Berry's Storm haircut still makes her look like a lesbian grandma...which is a shame because otherwise she comes off better in 5 minutes of screentime here than she did headlining Last Stand.
The 3D was fantastic too.
Favorite film of the year for me.

"now you wanna clean that shit up."
