I have not seen Grudge Match but that would have been so awesome if it was a Drama with De Niro and Stallone and not a comedy.

I would put that more on Cormack McCarthy than Scott. He wrote that script without giving a single fuck as to how movies (or even stories) work. Like it or hate it, it just doesn't conform to standard story-telling procedures that have been part of humanity since we first started telling stories in caves, and around fires.
In any case, I've been watching Little House On The Prairie S1 on Blu-ray and it looks fabulous. Not to mention, this is one of those shows which has good-hearted stories, a little moral story thrown in, and some comedy. Can't find that these days. It's all about how controversial an episode can be.
For curiosity, I switched my Panasonic Plasma to "full" mode, which renders the material in 16:9, and it looks pretty good.

Superman Returns
Maybe I have a new appreciation after watching it this for first time in HD though still not as good as the Reeve movies but still better than Superman III.

Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues
The Waynes World 2 of Comedy Sequels?
I think it is harder for Comedy sequels to repeat the same kind of success compared to other genres.

It's a pretty bad-looking Blu-ray. Partly the fault of Warner's obsolete video transfer and partly the fault of the cheap camera used to film it.

I think it came out in 2008 during the dawn of Blu-ray so maybe that explains the poor quality.
It least it was not as bad as Superman the Movie where the scenes on Krypton looked like a grainy VHS copy.
12 Years A Slave
Sad this was based on a true story and the ordeal Solomon had to go through.
I guess it deserved the best picture since the Wolf of Wall Street though entertaining was based on a scumbag which probably hurt its chances to win.

Why exactly did Singer and Seigel, who's films normally look stunning, choose to use such equipment? The budget was so huge, you'd think they could've afforded proper camera, HD then may not have been in the state it is now, but it wasn't exactly nascent. As for the transfer, is it a result of that, or just because of a half-assed job by Warners?
