There is a drop off in quality, but I am a huge fan of all 4 books in the series.

It's a decent, watchable sequel that I disassociate completely from 2001. I treat it as non-canon.

It's the same way I view T3.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I wish WB would hurry and release the rest of their "catch up" titles from HD DVD. I'm one of 13 people hoping for a Poseidon announcement. And I'd love to have the theatrical cut of Troy at some point in the near future.

I'm guessing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is just a direct port of the HD-DVD version, if that's the case, no upgrade for me.

EW just named "Tell No One" one of 2008's best films saying:

"A French thriller so jammed with twists it would be a crime to reveal them. Let's just say that this tale of a man who learns that his murdered wife may still be alive is as artfully dense as The Big Sleep, as painfully romantic as Vertigo, and so gripping it just about resynchronizes your pulse."

Glad I held off (because of price) getting the French blu.

Now how about Roman de Gare, Les Visiteurs (which I haven't seen but would like to) and Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources?

I thought it was pretty good. Like any film I need to give it a few days to digest.

The French PCM track sounded great. PQ was good throughout. Not demo material but I'm sure it's faithful to the source.

I noticed a few slight stutters that almost seemed like a dropped frame or two, but nothing alarming. This was on a BD30.

Overall I'd also recommend at least a rental, but for those looking to buy, I'd probably wait for the likely cheaper domestic.

Coincidentally, I just watched In Bruges last night for the first time as well. Pretty damn good. Really wish there had been a domestic Blu-Ray of it. Waiting to see how the import gets reviewed.

Could this be a precursor to HBO releasing John Adams on Blu-ray?

Don't they do that for lots of titles? They set up placeholder pages.

I thought John Adams was always planned for BD, just not day and date. Same with Generation Kill. I've held off on both even though the DVD's can be found pretty cheap.

John Adams looked great in HD so I will definitely be waiting for it.

Heads-up -

This is out. Apparently some copies managed to sneak themselves out and are being spotted at some various music stores. No reviewers (to my knowledge) have received his to review.

Coming out in France on February 3, 2009. Here's hoping it also gets a US release so I can retire my DVD. This is a holiday staple in my house.

Zack and Miri should be on the same day for the tie-in.

Falling Down: Digibook - May 26

There's an ad for this in the newest edition of "Home Media Magazine". This is one title I never thought would get the Digibook treatment. I'll be buying though.

One of my favorites from the 90's. Proving once again any WB film on HDnet tends to get HD treatment sooner than later. This, Amadeus and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and Bonnie and Clyde all debuted on HDnet within the past year or so as did all the Kubrick's last year.

Here's hoping for the The Mission this year in Digibook.

I am assuming The Road is the as of yet unreleased Viggo Mortensen film based on the McCarthy movie. It will be one bleak looking film but still can't wait to get it.

No idea which one it is...its simply a text listing on a BD-Live title of theirs (Superhero Movie). Some artwork is shown (Osama, Boy A) others are just mentioned.

A few of those movies haven't been released theatrically yet. Odd that they're already being mentioned.
