Does anyone know? It would be unfair to compare TDK's sales to Iron Man if they aren't being counted in the same way.

However, counting those numbers does take something away when comparing TDK sales to The Matrix 's sales on DVD since DVD was not really a rental format at that point, IIRC.

Very true. It was tough to rent DVDs in 1999...while now you can get BDs at almost any rental place, online, RedBox etc.

I was under the impression that rental sales are typically included in everything as well.

Still, glad to hear the Dark Knight did well. Movies like this are what entices people to get them in the best presentation possible

The Nielsens do not consider copies sold to rental places as "sales" IIRC (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). This is the first time, besides Transformers HD DVD (when ever got into a tizzy), when rental copies were counted. For whatever reason, Warner decided to count sales in numerous countries and rental sales to produce a big number for DVD and BD.

The Nielsens might not, but I always thought press releases and stuff from companies typically did. But this is just based mostly on assumptions from the video game world that I pay more attention to.

This is prob not important or has been discussed but has anyone noticed the framing is different? I took the same frame from the trailer and Blu-ray and was a little surprised the framing on the BR was lower in this specific scene. And you can clearly see the color difference too. Like I said, it's prob been discussed to death but I didn't know... heh.

Exactly. BD does have a huge opponent in DVD, one that DVD did not really have as it sort of created the retail chain for discs. However, BD does benefit from DVD having already established this chain. There are two completely valid ways to look at this.

Didn't it take him nearly a year or so to finish the script for Dark Knight?

I say let him take as long as he needs. He obviously doesn't want to screw this up. Pushing him with some ridiculous deadline would only lead to a poorly constructed product. I'd rather see the steady improvement we've seen from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight continue. Perhaps he should tackle a different project altogether like how he did The Prestige after Batman Begins.

That really means nothing. Trailers are typically not taken from a color-timed and final-framed master (because it's usually not done yet) and the director rarely has anything to do with the trailer. It doesn't surprise me that the feature differs from the trailer.

Also, congrats to Warner and the Dark Knight. Those numbers are impressive (for both DVD and BD) no matter how you slice them.

Hey has anyone with the Panasonic BD35 tried watching/listening to the commentaries (via BD-Live) got it to work? I've tried a couple of times but the movie streams but no commentary. I do have secondary audio set to on, although while streaming both the PiP and Secondary Audio are off...

I remember those toys! And how they made it seem as if the show were interactive with the toys. Good times.

Do you have the latest firmware update? http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...d35/index.html

Maybe this will help.

And they suggest logging into BD-Live 15 minutes ahead of time.
