Well, around 600K BDs fo TDK were sold on the first day (or first few days). Of those, I doubt a lot of them have BD-Live capable players, so for now, I'm guessing there are going to be plenty of open slots.

As for people who didn't get the email...did you uncheck the "alert me to special events" thing when you signed up for the BD Live?

I'm a touch disappointed with this, but I love this film so much, this release, though flawed, will hold me over until the corrections are made, whenever that may be.

Can someone post a picture of what the edge enhancement looks like? I'm still rather new to the HDTV scene and have yet to see what it looks like.

Maybe you should do some searching? Many pictures have already been posted.

If you mean that you need to know what edge enhancement is, see this page:

Look at the legs of the police officers. That's where it's most noticeable in that shot.

What are we supposed to be looking for? I don't notice anything other than big difference in coloring.

Look at the glowing outlines around their legs.

This one is much easier to see. Just be warned, after you see it the first time you'll probably see it in every freakin' movie you watch from now on. So, if I were you, I'd not even bother..

EDIT: It's in the second picture. Well, it's in both, but the second picture is the Blu-ray.

Wow, the Blu really pisses all over the DVD.

EE isn't that annoying, just unnecessary.

Both used PS3 through HDMI. I'm confused.

Haha and that's why I love Hi-Def.

I can see the difference in screen shots, it just doesnt show up on my set, so maybe that's a good thing?

Yeah, those screen grabs really show how superior Blu-ray can be over DVD.

In a way, yes. It proves how superior THIS Blu-ray is over THIS DVD. Again, saying as much about how bloody awful the DVD for this release was.

But yeah, even this EE-riddled transfer is light years ahead of the DVD.

Maybe because it's my least favorite part of the film, but I found the EE on close-ups of the ferry passengers to be particularly painful to look at.

I stop by Target today to see if they had any of the Batpod left...of course sold out, but they did have a raincheck on them for the $46.99 deal. I stop by Best Buy and they had two left. I asked Customer Service if I could get the deal on my Raincheck receipt. She said yes with no problems. My question: I have not opened my Batpod yet...but is it worth it. I was wondering if it just cheap plastic. I like it, but the price with tax was $50. I felt wrong buying it. I want to hear from you guys, if I should return it or keep it because it might be a rare item.. Any input?

Any site does comparison reviews between BDs released in the US and those released in other Region A friendly countries? I ask because I'm hoping for a Pan's Labrynth situation were the US BD was crap but elsewhere it looked great. I'd gladly import this one if that were the case.

A better strategy would have been to transfer the 35mm portions of the movie separately from their original elements and then splice them in with the real IMAX footage.
I know what DNR is. But what is DMR? I've seen it mentioned a lot whenever people talkk of IMAX prints and BDs that feature IMAX movies but have no idea what it is.

I guess my eyes can't pick up EE because while looking at those screencaps I could see nothing. Remember those 3-D books where if you stared at them long enough you would see another image? Well, I could stare at those things until my eyes bled and only see pain. I looked at those images for quite some time and still can't see the EE. Maybe I'm just lucky to not have my eyes/brain focus on or pick those things up.

FYI, edge enhancement is not something unique to HDTV or Blu-ray Disc...
In fact, MANY standard def DVDs suffer from it far worse, especially some of those early non-anamorphic discs that were simply recycled laserdisc transfers....take a look at the AWFUL "True Lies" disc and you'll see glowing halos around everything....I really wish Fox would hurry up and make a new HD transfer of this one for Blu...

Well you gotta understand that most people here are visual jackasses and love to nitpick everything. They truly are a sad group.

It's a plastic POS. Return it. Buy the Blu-ray only. Then look for much better replicas available. Defnitely WILL NOT be a collectible. These were made by the millions, in China, and will be used for nose pickers, butt wipers, back scratchers, and mobile home trinkets within a year from now.

There are many other examples. But I'm sure we can all agree, a Blu-ray EE'd disc is certainly better than a SD DVD EE'd disc.
