I figure it was equivalent to getting it for $186+tax locally which is about the same as the Sears Black Friday deal. I don't have to get up early and wait in line this way.
I'm tempted as I'm really not happy with my S300. Now it's really starting to hum as the disc spins. The problem we have here in NY (the land of taxes) is we have to pay taxes on all online purchases, so it kicks the price up by 8.25%. So now I'm looking at $220 ish depending on what movies I want and I really didn't find anything that I had to have.

I guess I'll just wait until I have another TV that needs a player then I can justify it.

Amazon has added a bunch of new players to the $100 off deal. The Panasonic BD55, Pioneer 51FD, 2 Sharps, and the LG BD300 are now in the selection.

I doubt a sole thread would really be necessary, but what kind of deals are you guys finding on Blu / HD media during the DD 25% off sale?

I grabbed a copy of The Fall for $19.39 -- not too shabby considering the other prices around.

I just picked up the James Bond collections for less than $45 each, which is the cheapest I've seen them. Although admittedly I haven't been watching for them.

I believe the Godfather trilogy is also a pretty good price, I don't remember the exact number but it was almost low enough to make me buy it, and I've barely even watched the DVD set I got years ago.

There's a thread over in the bargains forum listing nothing but people's orders and the prices they've paid, although you have to look carefully to sort the hi-def from the DVDs.

I seen The Shining BD for 13 bucks at Wal-Mart and I thought that was a freakin' sweet deal. It's making me think about switching to Blu now that the prices are going down and also because the picture quality is much better.

I just picked up The Third Man and Last Emperor (Criterion BD) for $21 each from DVD Planet. Also, Tropic Thunder for $22.47, Hellboy II for $21 and JFK for $19.66.

Interesting. I didn't think that you could order titles before the release date during these sales. Thanks for the heads-up!

I think as long as the release date is within the dates of the sale, you can pre-order titles. WALL-E is kind of a no-brainer.

What's the difference between the WALL-E 1 disc and 2 disc editions?

Strangely enough (prices before discount):

DVDPlanet: 30.71 (1 disc) 26.96 (2 disc)
Deep Discount: 27.83 (1 disc) 30.14 (2 disc)

Hmmm, and now I see a 3 disc on Amazon...

I would be very interested in buying the BD Criterion version of The Last Emperor for $21. How?

Use code 'DVDTALK' to get 25% off.

FYI, see the bargains forum for threads on the ongoing DeepDiscount and DVDPlanet 25% off sales.

Thx, appreciate it. But... Is that the BD Criterion DVD or the regular BD version? I see on other sites that the BD Criterion version is priced near $50. Also, when I try to purchase this with one of the codes (I've placed a previous order and it too would not allow this pre-order AND the 25% code), the code does not change the price.

Any further ideas?
George

The discount on the 11/11 and 11/18 pre-orders only works at DVD Planet, not Deep Discount. Just search on "Last Emperor", I believe the first search result will be the BD, check it to make sure, and then click "Buy Now" from the SEARCH page, not the item description page. When you apply the code during checkout, the price will drop.

Hey Ted, thx again. I have been to DVDPlanet and seen how that works there. But, still not sure if I'm getting the BD Criterion version or simply the BD version. Not even sure if there is such a thing as the BD Criterion version although I see a wide range of prices for this DVD.

Any ideas?
George

There's only one BD version of "The Last Emperor," and that's the Criterion.
Here's the link:
http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm/info/HVD002067

The third version you're seeing is the 2-Disc Criterion, which has a $60 MSRP.
Hope that clarifies things!

They pulled the PS3 and both Sony players because they are part of a new promo.

Buy 1 of those players, any 2 Sony BDs, and get any 2 Sony BDs free.

Discount code is BUY2GET2

Target has advertised several BDs on sale. I was in there in this morning and they had many other titles not listed. Before anyone posts a .com has cheaper prices, I am fully aware of that. This is in case someone wants to own a title today at a lower price. These are the titles I remember seeing:

$19.99
-I, Robot
-Master and Commander
-Shrek the Third
-Bee Movie
-Hulk (2003)
-Patton

$24.99
-Live Free or Die Hard
-Jumper
-Mr. and Mrs. Smith
-Independence Day
-Planet of the Apes (1968)

Looks like mostly Warner. Prices have been fixed accordingly.

It's too bad they won't keep them at their sale prices when doing a deal like this.
