Fuck, I'm gonna have to re-buy Casablanca again for the 4th time.

I'll definitely be picking up Band of Brothers. Always contemplated picking up the Japanese HD-DVDs, but held off due to the cost.

Those all look to be the DVD editions of these titles, not the BDs.

I said it before, but I hope that what they're doing is abandoning the book-type releases (I had a hunch about this when L.A. Confidential was announced for $30 MSRP), and instead doing separate standard and special collector's editions. I thought the book titles were kind of a bad middle ground, in that they were more expensive enough to tick off those of us that don't want to pay more than $20 for a catalog title, yet not special enough for collectors who want fancy packages and would pay more for it.

Wait, never mind, I read it and saw that JFK will be a digibook.

Drexel,

Warner has said something like 10 titles this year will be digibook.
So far we have gotten 3 with L.A. Confidential being #4. I doubt they will abandon them now. Titles like I Am Legend, 300 and A Christmas Story do not seem like "digibook" type releases from what we have gotten so far. Casablanca sure does though.

This just goes to show that you can't please everyone. I'm very glad that the set just includes the original trilogy, without the crappy made-for-TV 4th installment or the remake, but people on DVD Active want it to be "complete."

However, the price? Good lord.

I would want it to be "complete" as well (minus the remake). I hate buying "complete" sets only to find out they are missing movies...even if they are poor. It sucks to have to own the F13 set only to be forced to buy Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X individually (yeah, they suck...but I need a complete set!).

The high MSRP here does suck because many would rather not have to pay the high price for shitty #4 and the remake. While it may have not been that much of a difference in DVD prices, in Blu-ray prices its an easy $30-$60 jump for these two films.

It's priced like a standard release though... not $5 higher like the others...

I would imagine Shawshank Redemption will be one as well.

That I am Legend set looks pretty sweet. Probably not worth the scratch they're going to want for it though.

I'd love to double dip on Band of Brothers, but not sure if I will. I've been wanting to watch that again anyway.

I think it was mentioned on Blu-ray.com that the MSRP for BOB would be 174.99. Yikes!

I would actually buy it for that price, but boy I hope they are not stupid enough to price it that high.

I don't see why this should be any higher priced than the Sopranos HD sets.

Ugh, its in a tin. That right there warrants an additional $50!

Hallelujah! I still wish I had been able to see it on the big screen (but couldn't justify the $50+ it would've cost for travel and tickets), but this is the next best thing.
