Yeah, there's a thread from last year titled something like "The Lost Boys due in September" (as in last September) that gets bumped to the front page every now and then, and I've gotten duped a couple of times thinking it was legitimate.

1408 - September 16

According to a member on HD Digest's forums, Navarre is a distributor for several retailers. They have the listing. I hope Grindhouse isn't far behind.

Odd that Weinstein would release 1408 first and not Halloween or other films that are sure to sell better. I'm not complaining though, I'd much rather have 1408 first the nthe Grindhouse films.

This better have the Directors Cut on it... According to DVDAF.com, the MSRP is $29.99. Should be about $20 in stores. That's a good sign.

These release announcements blow. I really hope Pulp Fiction does in fact come out in the UK in September. At last that's...something.

NICE! The one plus to Speed Racer bombing is that quick turnaround time... my sister loved it too and the 16th is her birthday - I know what I'm getting her!

That isn't particularly fast though, it seems to be the average turn around these days (4 months) for a heavily promoted movie at least.

Cloverfield, for example, had a 3 month turn around. Juno had a 4 month turn around from Limited release to DVD Release (while it was still making money in theaters no less).

Dunno why I'm bringing it up, I feel like being right about something today (an easy counter is how Spider-man 3, Shrek 3, and Pirates 3 all took upwards of 6 months)

Looks like WB is joining the digital copy crowd. With Disney doing the same for Nightmare Before Christmas, that leaves Sony, Universal, and Paramount. I'm sure they'll be doing the same thing before the year's out.

It would be nice if they could just include a download code without having to include an extra disc.

Universal is doing digital downloads with the re-release of The Mummy movies IIRC. That may be for DVD only though.

Sony has announced the release of four films on Blu-Ray for August 12.

Those films are Maximum Risk, Half Past Dead, 7 Seconds, and xXx: State Of The Union.

Somehow, I don't see any of these flying off the shelf.

Agreed. I think these will be the first four titles when Wal-mart starts their Blu-ray bargain bin in a couple years.

At first I thought these actually were part of some new budget line, but no, they're the usual $28.95 MSRP.

I wonder if BD-25 is enough for The Lost Boys. I guess it is since it's only 97 minutes, but there are about 90 minutes of supplements too. I suppose those won't take up much space if they're VC-1 though.

Um, I thought Sony wanted Bluray to succeed? I would have thought THEY would be the most aggressive at releasing big name/must buy titles.

Im starting to think they invested in the demise of bluray via futures contracts. Theyve watched Casino Royale too many times.

I remember Sony promising 100 titles this year.

I guess this is how they get there.

0 for 4 on this announcement - blech.

I sold off my snapper a long time ago, but didn't they release The Lost Boys as a 2 disc SE? There has got to be more then 90 minutes if special features.

Here's hoping for a decently priced 2-pack.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. From the review it sounds like there's about 90 minutes or so there (not counting the commentary, of course).
