Amazon has added a preorder date of July 29 for Top Gun. This could be another big Paramount catalog day. I mentioned a page or two back that Patriot Games is coming on the same day. I expect the other Jack Ryan movies as well.

Is there any possibility that these will be any different than the feature-less HD DVD versions?

DVD Town has the cover art up for Nixon (8/19). The full feature set hasn't been announced yet, but the BD will include a new 35-minute documentary and the Extended Director's Cut.

Beetlejuice on Sept. 16
Not much in the way of extras (so far), but still a welcomed release.

Beetlejuice on Blu-ray
Warner Home Video has announced a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Beetlejuice which stars Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder. The Tim Burton film will be available to own from the 16th September, and should retail at around $19.96. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $34.99. As well as a newly remastered presentation, the DVD will also include three Beetlejuice cartoons (A-Ha, Skeletons In The Closet, Spooky Boo-tique) from the successful TV series which was produced by Burton and David Geffen and ran for four successful seasons. Stay tuned for the package artwork.

A $10 difference isn't bad, but a $20 difference on catalog titles is ridiculous.
I remember when Mrs. Doubtfire came out on BD. I was in Target and they had it featured in the New Release aisle with that nice $34.99 price tag. I even laughed and I know about Fox's pricing. I can't imagine how many other people were laughing at that.

$35 for a day-and-date title is a hard sell for me most times, especially when it's something that won't necessarily benefit from HD-media, like Juno.
$35 for a catalog title is friggin' insane unless it's a multi-disc SE on the order of one of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.

Wait, isn't Beetlejuice going to be a book title? Don't tell me they're charging $35 without the excuse that the book case costs more.
Disney used to charge $35 for catalog titles, up until The Rock I believe. A few titles like that and Con Air got a lower MSRP, then it went back up again.

I won't be able to resist Beetlejuice for the likely $22-$23 Amazon will sell it for, but I'm sure there will be other WB titles at that price that will go from impulse buy to rent for me. Same with The Recruit. Might have bought it for $20, but not more.
