I agree that it is time to see more MSRP reductions on older titles.

I could be way off but didn't Universal drop the MSRP on some of their early releases like a year ago?

I am almost certain you have the option of either iPod or PSP when you insert the "Digital Copy". It would make sense since Sony pretty much is the BDA and it would suck to exclude them for this (unless they would rather have people buy UMDs?). But today with Hitman coming out I'm sure someone can set this straight.
So, I like the fact that studios are not wasting disc space (especially on DVD releases) on the digital copy. However, I worry that the compression rate used for such releases from iTunes will make those releases uninteresting to me.

No argument there.
The price drop last year would then make Universal the first studio to have dropped the MSRP of an HDM release.
Advantage, HD DVD!
Wait . . .

I like the main site for information about BD, but it seems like people in those forums only buy because it's on Blu-ray, not because of the actual movie. I like BD and I support it, but I'm not going to be saying "HD DVD Sux" (
) anytime soon. Which ever HD disc format one the war was the format I was going to get into up. It didn't matter if it was HD DVD or Blu-ray (I was pulling for HD DVD a bit because the supporters didn't bash BD too no end).

With regard to the MSRP lowering that Matome mentioned, Fox seems to be using a different strategy for catalog titles than the other studios: High price on release then lower it by $10 later. Similar to what many studios seem to do with DVDs. I checked a bunch of BD prices and the vast majority of the ones lowered were Fox. For example:
Fantastic Four (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Behind Enemy Lines (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Speed (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Kiss of the Dragon (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Rising Sun (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
The Usual Suspects (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Sentinel (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Planet of the Apes (2001) (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
Entrapment (Fox): $39.98 > $29.98
And there are many others. I did find two Sony titles that seem to have been lowered:
Curse of the Golden Flower (Sony): $38.95 > $28.95
Secret Window (Sony): $38.95 > $28.95
And a WB title:
Superman Returns (WB): $39.99 > $34.99
(But this just reflects Warner Bros. lowering their prices in general for new releases awhile back.)
I couldn't spot any Disney or Lionsgate MSRPs that have been lowered thus far.
FWIW.

HD Digest gave I am Legend 5/5 for audio/video. Too bad the hour long documentary isn't in HD. Aside from an inconsistent support of lossless audio, the other thing that bothers me about new WB titles is the lack of support for all HD extras.

As noted this is a Target driven sale as there are titles present from every Blu-ray studio (Disney, Fox, Sony, Warner, Lionsgate). This is not a studio specific sale.
