I have no problem with saying blu-ray has BOGO's frequently. But it's not "every week". Every other week? Maybe
. Every week HD DVD has a blockbuster release, surely

As of May 2007, Fry's Electronics operates brick-and-mortar stores in nine U.S. states: California (17 stores); Texas (8); Arizona (2); Georgia (2); Illinois (1); Indiana (1); Nevada (1); Oregon (1); and Washington (1).
Just over 30 stores nation-wide. They certainly have plenty of stores in CA and TX, but the other 48 states get zero love, including major metropolitan areas on the east coast.

Thanks to overscanning or slight reformatting, a 1.85:1 film will generally fill the entire TV screen. A scope film will still have the black bars to preserve a ratio wider than the TV's.

I was also moved more to this thinking because all of the HD content I watch on cable fills up the full screen and shows no bars. Even the movies on TNTHD, Universal HD, and the movie channels. I should have known they "fix" the movie to fill up the screen and not go by the real aspect ratio. Thanks guys for all the help. I will try to do better in the future.

In its new announcement, the BDA fights fire with fire, counting both standalone Blu-ray players and the Playstation 3 to come up with a staggering 2.7 million units sold through Black Friday.

personally, i would prefer that player sales reports for both formats provide totals as well as a complete breakdown, such as this:
Blu-ray
-------
# of PS3s
# of Blu-ray PC drives
# of Standalone Blu-ray players
HD DVD
-------
# of XBox360 Add-ons
# of HD DVD PC Drives
# of Standalone HD DVD players
That way everyone could look at the numbers and draw their own conclusions. Of course, that would be terrible marketing for both sides.

Some people claim that the PS3 sales are used to boost the Blu-Ray numbers and then some of those same people as well as some others say that only 20% of PS3 owners actually use it for Blu-Ray. People try to use both of these as negatives against the PS3. Personally I am glad that the PS3 can perform more than one major function in regards to my entertainment setup. Easy to turn on, easy to update and no problems with playback.
If they have more then 3 times the amount of players available (as they are now counting the PS3), shouldn't they be winning by 3 times the amount of software every week just to "break even" with what HD DVD is doing? It should be 75:25 every week just for the ratio of software to players to remain the same. While that almost happened last week, its never happened before. Its typically 60/40 on average.
I don't have the latest numbers, but Blu-ray software has not outsold HD DVD software 2:1. Its something like 1.85:1. With 3 times the amount of players on the market...shouldn't they be higher? What about the BDA's comment about the $99 A2 Firesale? They are selling 95% of there Blu-ray players (PS3) at a much bigger loss every day (and 3 times as much apparently) and having weekly BOGOs to achieve the higher the normal Nielsen numbers.
I really enjoy these little PR Battles. The Big Question: Does the general public actually read and believe the crap that the BDA and HD DVD group puke up?

You don't think it's in there? Man -- they know what kind of cereal you ate for breakfast this morning and all the times you pick your nose when you thought that nobody was lookin'! Not to mention how much wood a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck etc., etc.
