I'm not too sure why its only Warner Blu-rays that are on sale. Either someone else is paying the differentce (Sony, BDA, who knows), Warner is clearing all Blu-ray stock, or they are simply trying to see the affect a BOGO sale has on its software. I doubt we will ever know.

Aside from that Gizmo... buying a $100 hd-player and say you saved $300. I, for one, still don't wanna blow the $300 "savings" on a regular priced hd-dvd software. Anybody want to argue with that?

I agree. I find it odd that just now Warner titles are included when they weren't part of earlier sales. I think either the BDA is trying to influence Warner to become BD exclusive, or perhaps Warner has already decided and that's why they're now part of the sales. They can have a stronger case with the numbers being padded like this.

I doubt Warner has decided anything since Harry Potter has not hit yet. I imagine they will use that to make their final decision. They priced them both the same and put certain features on one format and certain on the other. They know exactly what they are doing. I still fully expect Blu-ray to outsell HD DVD as they have a 3:1 hard ware advantage according to the BDA, but by how much...?

that is not what i said. the world is made up of grey's not the blacks and whites you seem to be trying to paint. if one format were to emerge from this mess that is far more likely in my opinion to stimulate uptake of highdef media in the population at large, which in turn will provide a market for studios to release their catalogue titles into. as has happened with dvd, incidentally. there is nothing sudden about this scenario.

it seems to me strange to consider one multinational anti-consumer and not others. they are all most interested in their bottom line, and not how they can help us joe-shmoes. sony has their annoying memory cards, microsoft their monopoly violations, and toshiba their russian deals. only panasonic is pure of spirit!

Wow, if the A2 is crappy, I can't imagine how amazing a good player must be outside of faster load times.

Oh and I tend to agree with the "sure doom" if WB goes Blu. I love Universal and Paramount, but they aren't enough. Though I do find it odd that the source of most of the fervor is from the Lionsgate camp. We shall see. PS3s needs to get a few more quality games so I can give my self a reason to buy one ($400 is still out of range for what it offers). And until the Blu standards are solidified, I can't imagine purchasing a standalone (I heart IME).

hey, where's the competition? hd-dvd camp is not doing much isn't it? i don't mind picking up Shrek or Bourne for $10-$15 in HD (or any other selections)... come on, give us something, Shrek and Borne releases are nice, but it's not a deal. Bring on the competition...

Agreed on that front, they don't seem to be pushing the software.

BD deals are the main reason why I own 109 BDs and only 38 hd-dvds.

Okay, i take back about the "crappy" comment on the A2... sorry, it's just me. I don't have anything against A2 owners, just me... All i'm saying is, it's "crappy" to me and i apologize if this caused a confusion of the actual functionality of the A2.

See, that's the thing, even though the A2 is a great player, i find it hard to swallow to get one over $100 knowing that it was on sale before... I think this has been discussed before, so i'm not gonna talk about it further. Anyhow, the A2 is not for me, that's what i'm saying.

that's within the 3 to 1 BD to hd-dvd ratio... i'm more like 10-1 (hey, if the PQs are same, go for the cheaper one).

The A2 is a wonderful player, and while its had some issues, its still one of THE best HDM players available for price and quality.

Then I would suggest never buying a Blu-ray movie ever again especially catalog) on release date since it will eventually be BOGO down the line. The HD DVD camp had the A2 for $99 one time (and it was Wal-Mart who picked up the tab on making it that price, not Toshiba), and for one day only. The BDA has had a BOGO every week for the past few months. I don't even buy new Blu-ray releases (with the exception of must owns like Superbad and POTC3) anymore because they will be BOGO very very soon. My theory has proved to be right so far. Several titles I passed on were BOGO a week or two later. Heck, Sony is now BOGOing off titles that are not even out yet (Life of Brian on Amazon).

The problem with these BOGO deals is its going to condition people to wait for the next BOGO vs. buying them right away. What happens if these deals stop? Will people just wait for the next BOGO, even if it never happens. The used Blu-ray market has almost crashed as many of these titles are going for $8-10 on ebay making it very hard to sell any Blu-ray movie, even if its one that has never been a BOGO, because it might be next week. Hell, I just bought I Know Who Killed Me brand new, 2 days after release, for $15 on ebay (And Adam was wrong, this movie is AWESOME! ). I have a feeling the Blu-ray software market is in for a huge crash soon when these discs start flooding GameStop/EB/Moviestop/FYE etc. Most of these movies people buy on impulse because there cheap and will eventually be traded in/sold.

Agreed. IMO Toshiba = 2nd-rate CE = 2nd-rate HDM players.
