also my distributor has finally put the Pirates of the Caribbean movies up for Blu-ray with msrps of $34.99. Plus, this is pure speculation, but POTC 2 might be 2 discs from the information they have listed for it.

Maybe its old news, but...

Universal Studios Home Entertainment now indicates that The Jerk and The Nutty Professor will not be HD DVD/DVD Combo releases but HD DVD releases, that is, no SD DVD side. The previously mentioned disc specs still stands.

They will hence be priced at $29.98 SRP.

I still can't believe GI Jane is getting a HD release now. I'll be picking Chicken Little up.

Is Disney getting some college freshman intern with a pirated copy of Paint Shop Pro to do their cover designs, by the way?

Yikes.

It's still better than the Superman reissue covers.

Hey, that's my birthday! I'd be all over Scissorhands, Master & Commander, Predator, Platoon, and The Graduate if they do them right (i.e. with extras).

I've seen this lineup at both AVS and HTF, but I have yet to see a source. I know they're all rumored for May, but that seems pretty front-loaded for that month. I'd be happy to buy two of them, though.

I suspect they'll do away with the swoop logo on the front at some point. I'm more irked at the spine art change - looks like they're all going to be blue...

Granted, it's a yr away before I own any of these... still.

Of those new Fox titles I'd get Scissorhands... the others (that I want) had pretty good extras that'll no doubt be left off for another release. At least Fox is making it easy to wait.

Master and Commander had one of the best audio/video presentations on dvd. I'm sure it will also be a reference disc in high-def. But since it's from Fox, we'll get the extras from the 1-disc instead of the terrific 2-disc set. Which means a trailer. Looks like I'm gonna have to make sure I get that Samsung BD-P1200. There is an onslaught of titles coming from BD...all exclusive...that I may not be able to have.

I guess Universal is just going to wait until BD announces about 20 more titles with dates before they start giving us more details on their HD DVD releases.

Definitely some good titles. I really hope Fox takes the time to strike a new transfer for Predator, because all of the DVD versions are quite terrible.

I wonder when we'll see "A Bridge Too Far"'s sequel, "A Fridge Too Far."

Spoiler:
Please let someone get the reference...

hahaha!!! Classic!

Anyhow soon Disney BR titles will just say:

"This movie rocked, now it rocks even more in HD! Buy this movie"

NO poster art, nothing.

Those look like the same designs the DVDs used. The stupid swoosh thing makes for some bad placement (some elements have to be awkwardly shifted over to the left so they can be seen), but except for the critics' quotes they look just like I would have expected them to look.

Same list for me, minus The Graduate. Particularly looking forward to Edward Scissorhands. Those colors are going to be amazing.

I think it's just going to be Man on Fire for me, a little disappointing for a new batch on my end.

Too little room for any art, huge fonts, taglines/blurbs that take up an excessive amount of the cover...a couple orders of magnitude worse than the DVD.

The Finding Neverland cover swapped out the more stylized font from the DVD in place of something blockier and generic, and it's missing the complete bottom half of the art.

I can't see the full G.I. Jane cover from that shot, but it looks like it's missing that dusk gradient and the helicopters, so it's just Demi Moore standing against a black backdrop. Not that the teletype font of the original cover art/DVD was particularly striking, but it's better than the generic web page font they haphazardly slapped onto the BD.

Chicken Little isn't as amateurish, but that inhumanly large swoosh has to go.

I hafta admit that not only would I buy almost every single one of those, that's the type of line-up that makes me want to run out and buy a BD player.

I know what you mean, but with all the DVDs I've got, I'm desperately trying to stick to stuff I have poor versions or never got around to buying.
