And oddly enough...it's disappeared from both sites. hmm....

Warner HD DVD press release

Only The Departed gets an actual date (well, also Wicker Man and Beerfest, but we knew about those two). Yawn.

Big CES update.

Note that I am being really strict with my usual requirement for listing: a title must have a specific release date. No 'summer,' no 'first quarter,' not even 'May.' That's why Pirates of the Caribbean or the Matrix movies aren't there.

Thanks, just watched dvdpacific and it shows there too.

Great news, but really, WTF is with Sony? You think they'd put it on their CES press release in the first place.

Predictably disappointing specs from MGM and Fox:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63765

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63766

For me, the most shocking announcement is that The Fly will be without its amazing documentary. It's a 1 hour 45 minute movie on a BD-50...and it can't fit the documentary? Pathetic.

And that Big Fish listing at DVD Empire shows no features for it, either. Hopefully they have yet to be announced, but this is the first sign, post-CES, of Blu-Ray's inability to back up their promises with stellar, packed discs.

EDIT: Though I will say that I'm sure the visual and aural quality of these discs will be stellar. Still, it doesn't have to be an either/or situation.

Oh, for fuck's sake. Hannibal was a 2-disc special edition. Silence of the Lambs also has quite a bit of special features. And as Skoo pointed out, taking that documentary off of The Fly is criminal.

SOTL is coming out with a 2 disc set soon.

Again, they make it all so very very easy...

Well, I personally am not going to be buying discs that have significantly less extras than their DVD counterparts. I didn't buy Kong, and I won't buy these. I would love to own Kingdom of Heaven on BD, but there's a two-disc commentary that was taken off. Forget it. The only movie I broke my rule for was Silent Hill, only because I really liked the movie and didn't think the special features on the DVD were all that great.

Oh well, more titles that will be rentals for me. Just means less money spent on titles that will undoubtedly get the double dip treatment. It is a bit disappointing as I would love to own the "definitive" release of movies I enjoy.

Yea, I'm not one to bitch bout extras being left off, but it is obvious that we might as well wait with many of these until we get the rereleases that are sure to come.

I'll probably pick up Rocky though.

I have been saying this all along: yes, BD has made MORE announcements, but the quality of the releases are for shit.

It's quality, not quantity.

Exactly. Tough break though for all the extras fans who don't want to keep the SDs... like someone said, they're probably better off waiting for the double-dip, it'll come sooner or later.

Hmm, so Babel comes out February 20th and Flags Of Our Fathers comes out February 6th, yet they haven't said if that is a day and date release. Does this mean it won't be coming out on HD DVD at the same time?

Looks like Blood Diamond will be streeting for both formats on 3/20/07 with Msrp $34.99

For BR: it looks like Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs will be 04/03/07 with MSRP at : $39.98

DVDEmpire added Hannibal today.

Does anyone know the word on Lemony Snicket?

The Prestige is reportedly a march HD-DVD title in the UK.

This calendar is for North America only.

One question for everyone:

Do you want me to include adult titles in the calendar? I have no problem with that, but I'll probably miss a lot of announcements because they won't appear on the mainstream dvd sites, and I don't frequent the racier ones.

Waiting for that one as well. It wasn't on Paramount's AWESOME CES announcement list of four titles, though

Grubert, We Were Soldiers and Manchurian Candidate are BD50's in case you're updating those.

fair enough, Grubert - I just thought I'd throw it in there, because its a reasonably desirable title otherwise unavailable on hd-dvd.

fwiw I would prefer it if you did not include adult titles, but that is not to say they should not have their own calendar.

Has there been a delay for Chicago? It's supposed to come out on 1/23, but my Amazon order is now saying it's scheduled to ship on March 13th, with no date set at the listing itself.

Is Dances With Wolves the 3-hour or 4-hour version? If it's the 4-hour i'm in. if it's only the 3-hour, forget it.
