My main want is the obligatory Lord of the Rings trilogy.

That aside, I'm really wanting all Clint Eastwood westerns to be available.

Most wanted BD: Armageddon, BTTF trilogy, DaVinci Code, Die Hard 4(R rated version), Gettysburg, Greatest Game Ever Played, Grosse Pointe Blank, Honeymoon in Vegas, Jurassic Park, Memphis Belle, Midway, Pearl Harbor (R rated version), Planes,Trains and Automobiles, Raiders 1 and 3, Stripes, Sleepless in Seattle, Star Wars, Saving Private Ryan, Tin Cup, True Lies, While You Were Sleeping.

My list was not neccessarily my all-time favorite movies, but several that I or the family like and have never gotten past the early release blues; non-anamorphic, not 5.1 sound, bare bones crappola. I'd rather upgrade one of those than one I already have a decent SE version of.

The New Word Extended Cut
Live Free Or Die Hard Unrated
True Lies
Star Wars unaltered
Back To The Future trilogy
Aliens tetralogy
Jurassic Park
Pearl Harbor R rated
Léon: The Professional
The Dollars Trilogy
Once Upon a Time in the West
DOA: Dead or Alive <--- guilty pleasure
Event Horizon
Captain Blood
In The Mouth of Madness
Grosse Pointe Blank
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
Seraphim Falls
Open Range
Highlander <--- I'd love a new cut based on the director's cut that excluded the wooshing sounds and the silly backflips but kept the lines "this is the Quickening" and "I want to go home"
Highlander II <--- but with all the director's cut extensions AND the Zeist shenannigans intact cos there's no way to fix this and they should let it be the delightful mess it is
X-Men <--- featuring via seemless branching the extended cut that was promised way back during the 1.5 DVD release but never delivered
X2
Kate & Leopold
The Street Fighter <--- the Sonny Chiba movie

All the Alien Films (director cuts included like the Quadrilogy would be nice)
The original Star Wars films in their original form would be just ducky
All the Indiana Jones films
All the Lord Of The Rings (Extended Cuts)
The remaining Rocky films

Titanic
Raise The Titanic
Boogie Nights
Showgirls - (yeah, I know )
T2 (Extended Cut)
Conan The Barbarian
Conan The Destroyer
Return Of The Living Dead
Jurrassic Park Trilogy
and the first two Highlander films . . .

Last, but certainly not least . . . I'd also LOVE to finally have the extended cut of The Deep that was supposed to come out on Laser Disc about 15 years ago. I recall it having a release date in an Image catalog that said it ran something like 45 minutes longer! - At this point, I'd even settle for an SD version - just release it already!

Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4
Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers (Pam Springsteen commentary)
Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland (Pam Springsteen commentary)

Don't feel ashamed or embarrassed. I want Showgirls on BD too. If MGM ever releases it, hopefully it will get a decent set of extras like a commentary track or tracks with Paul Verhoeven, Elizabeth Berkley, and Gina Gershon, a lengthy documentary on the making of the film with new interviews from the stars and production team, possibly some deleted scenes, the two teasers and the theatrical trailer, etc. The extras that are on the 2004 VIP Edition DVD and the 2007 Fully Loaded Edition DVD (which are the same discs) are a joke. The only thing that had any value was the Pop-Up Video trivia track whch contained quite a bit of interesting information.

Your wishlist for HD in 2009 (not just Blu Ray)

for blu ray

* more consistent quality, (no DNR more remastering where needed, DVD extras ported over
*a quality Blu Ray live player for under $200
* BD prices to drop down to $10 or so for most catalog titles and $20 for new theatrical releases
* some of the titles I want on BD in '09
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off
- all the Clint Eastwood movies
- Lethal Weapon 3 and 4
- all the Pixar titles
- BTTF trilogy
- Indy 1-3

on TV
*Directv to add these channels in HD
- Travel Channel
-ESPNU
- WGN
-IFC
-AMC
-E!
- Encore

* to go HD and of course for Directv to carry them
- Comedy Central
- the Encore themed channels ie Action, Westerns, etc

More HD streaming choices from Netflix. I also want the PS3 to get this feature, which I believe it will via Blockbuster Online.

I don't expect any price drops on new release BDs, but we will get them for catalog titles. I only ask for retailers to be more aggressive on new release pricing. Instead of a $27.99 price tag on release week, how about a $22.99 price instead? The gouging needs to end at some point. My days of paying $28 for a BD are over.

- Criterion to release some more Wes Anderson films on Blu-ray
- Harold and Maude and The Graduate to finally be released by MGM/Fox with lossless tracks and new special features
- No more DNR/EE!
- Lossless for every title. Period.
- Lower prices on new releases. $28 has got to stop. $22-24.
- Studios digging deeper into their catalog titles
- The removal of all Profile 1.0 players from store shelves immediatley.

More I'm sure...

1. A couple of good Spielberg titles. I am trying to be realistic here, so I don't expect Indiana Jones or E.T. yet. Also, Jurassic Park will have to wait for the sequel. However, would something like Saving Private Ryan be too much to ask for? Or, how about Minority Report, Munich, or Catch Me if You Can? Back to the Future has been rumored, so even though it's not a Spielberg-directed series, it may have to do for the holiday Spielberg title slot. Remember how they staggered these on DVD. Could Jaws be too big to release yet? We got it in 2000 on DVD, 3 years after launch. We'll probably know in the spring, since that's a summer title.

2. At least one good James Cameron film around the time Avatar is released. I am guessing Titanic would be a candidate, because Aliens and The Abyss need new transfers and he needs to supervise them. We'll probably have to wait until 2010 for those.

3. More smaller films. We are getting some of these early in the year, from Fox of all studios, such as Sideways and Little Miss Sunshine. However, I'm afraid these may be part of an Oscar promotion. I hope we get more as the year goes on.

4. I hope the sales of Criterion's initial wave of titles will meet their expectations, and they will continue to release more on a regular basis. I'd love to see Brazil.
