For those interested, Amazon has Serenity for $15.96 now. I posted this in the bargains thread, but thought I'd share this in a HD thread as well.

Oddly the list has been removed and replaced with just the titles already announced.

This was posted on the AVS forums regarding the absence of Paramount HD DVDs. I can't think of another reason other than a technical problem.

"I seem to remember Paramount saying they weren't going to release anything on either format until a confirmed "customer adoption" rate for players had been reached. Considering that Toshiba is keeping mum on those numbers, maybe Paramount decided to hold back until those numbers are available."

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment today announced a quartet of Blu-ray Disc titles scheduled for release on August 15. The list is headlined by "Black Hawk Down" and "Memento," two TMR favorites that should shine on the format. Also coming are "Sense and Sensibility" and "The Big Hit."

Rusty James 06-05-06 03:24 PM

Take this with a big grain of salt, but according to a poster on AVS, here's the next batch of WB dates:

16 Blocks - 6/13
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - 6/13
Syriana - 6/20
Dukes of Hazzard - 6/20
Harry Potter 4 - 6/20
and...
Batman Begins - 6/13

Batman is the only one I'm interested in.

HD DVD is making this easy on me at the moment. Only 3 discs bought thus far.

Mr. Cinema 06-05-06 03:51 PM

I bet Syrianna will be an overpriced "hybrid" disc. ugh.

If Warners is releasing Potter and Batman this month, then surely Universal will be rolling out King Kong in the near future.

Oliver Clothesoff 06-05-06 03:56 PM

those would be great releases for the next two weeks. I guess we'll know soon. Warner Bros hasn't announced the rest of their June releases yet, correct?

They haven't even announced THESE.

It's basically a week-to-week situation.

I would almost put money down that Syriana, 16 Blocks, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang will be hybrids.

of course, BHD will be the theatrical cut and not the extended cut that is being released tomorrow (6/6) - -ohbfrank-

HP and Batman for me....supposedly these are sourced from BB so definately questionable. BUT, with so many rumors about these titles, I bet they will all be out soon at least.

Rusty James 06-06-06 12:13 PM

16 Blocks, at least, is now official for June 13 as a hybrid.

Gives me hope that the list is accurate.

Ditto....besides, I never bought any of those crappy DVD/VHS hybrids. ;)

Skoobooz 06-06-06 06:17 PM

Make sure to read all of the notes on the bottom of the page.

...the end cap will transition from the HD-DVD to Blu-Ray in a merch kit in mid June
So they're going to give the HD-DVD display the shaft and begin promoting BR?

Yep. But they are not taking positions. I bet you they promote BR better than they did HD-DVD.
