Sleepy Hollow was an amazing-looking DVD. I'm anxious to see how the HD disc looks.

digitalfreaknyc 07-10-06 12:38 PM

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'll be picking up The Italian Job...maybe Sky Captain.

Hardly....

I'll take

Sahara
Sleepy Hollow
The Manchurian Candidate
The Italian Job

Still debating on Sky Capt and U2.

Mr. Cinema 07-10-06 01:14 PM

finally

I'll be picking up a few of those. Lara Croft in HD.

flashburn 07-10-06 01:51 PM

Definitely be picking up Sky Captain, and eventually The Italian Job.

I remember seeing Italian Job on HBO HD quite a while back and thought it looked amazing, even better than some of the movies I've seen on there that were shot in digital. Hopefully it will look just as good (or better!) than that broadcast.

RockStrongo 07-10-06 02:29 PM

According to video business, the retail will be $29.95....so hopefully, amazon will have them for $20-22.

Showtime HD. Several times a day, every day. :D

Just read over at AVS that the Digital Bits says Poseidon will be day and date.

That calendar and the info in the rumor mill is almost a month old. Supposedly, the info on avs about the date being december was taken directly from WB.

I guess we will find out soon enough.

They got this information on 6/15 though.....Im hope they are right, but the rumor on avs seems just as reliable to me.

Mr. Cinema 07-10-06 03:09 PM

Well, the Blu-Bits has updated their HD DVD release list today and they still have Poseidon as 8/22. But that post on AVS claims 12/5 and it has all the studio info, upc, etc...

Supermallet 07-10-06 03:24 PM

Did anyone else notice all those Paramount HD-DVDs will be barebones? The only one I was mildly interested in was Sleepy Hollow, but I think I will pass on these until Paramount gets their shit together.

For what it's worth, Netflix has Poseidon HD-DVD releasing in August.

This seems to be still up in the air. Some sites are reporting no extras, some are reporting that the DVD extras will be carried over. I think the press release must not be very clear on this point.

Mr. Cinema 07-10-06 08:03 PM

Looks like Poseidon is 8/22 afterall. I thought it was decent. At least it's another new release coming out soon.

I went to check and see if maybe Amazon had listings for any of these HD-DVDs, and I noticed that while they don't have a listing for the HD-DVD of Sleepy Hollow, they DO have a listing for the Blu-ray!

Grubert 07-11-06 03:48 AM

Lots of updates.

Also, PQ column now contains the average video grade given by dvdtown and dvdtalk, as the site has begun to publish Blu-ray reviews too and it seemed the nice thing to do. :)

Adam Tyner 07-11-06 06:34 AM

A few upcoming indie titles according to Home Media Retailing:

Razor Digital (Blu-ray): Africa the Serengeti, Alaska: Spirit of the Wild, Amazing Journeys and National Parks Odyssey

Live Nation (HD DVD): Mötley Crüe: Carnival of Sins and Ozzfest 10th Anniversary

Eagle Rock (Blu-ray): concerts from Pat Metheny and The Black Crowes

MTI (Undecided): Pirates

BCI plans on having 20 titles available by the end of the year. Goldhil is still sitting on Chronos. Razor Digital hasn't finalized release dates or prices yet. The two Live Nation titles are coming in Q4, and although their initial releases will be on HD DVD, they're contemplating releasing on Blu-ray as well. The article lists Eagle Rock (which has 45 masters it could use for HD releases) as releasing its first two titles on Blu-ray, although a quote says the company is format-agnostic. Another music-driven company, Kultur Entertainment, has twelve titles earmarked. MTI's Pirates is coming in Q4.

wonder if these IMAX films will be streched to accomodate 16X9 or retain their OAR with pillarboxing.

Awesome flick, one of my favorites of the year. This and Pitch Black are the first two HD-DVDs that I will gladly pay whatever gets my hands on them on release day. And speaking of that I'm off to Walmart to pick up Pitch Black on lunch, very excited to see that one in HD-DVD tonight.

digitalfreaknyc 07-11-06 12:26 PM

According to AVS, we'll be getting a press release from WB this week about new titles.

I'm assuming it won't be today because of the big press release from the HD DVD camp. Probably tomorrow or thursday.
