Did you see the new slogan Universal's using on their cover art for their August releases?

"The look and sound of perfect". I guess that won out over their original choice: "Video today the high quality!"

"Who were the ad wizards that came up with that one?"

Giles 05-27-06 09:38 AM

did anyone see the TV ad for Underworld: Evolution during Lost the other night - it mentioned the day to date release of the Blu-Ray edition. I have yet to see or hear HD-DVD touting their stuff on network television.

Funny because doesnt Underworld Evo come out BEFORE the actual player?

I believe they did for Rumor Has It (bleh), but lets see what the ads for Firewall and 16 blocks say when they start soon.

digitalfreaknyc 05-29-06 04:09 PM

Seems like Firewall might be the best release yet.

Actually, i recall the commercial saying something to the effect of: "and coming soon to Blu-Ray", not day and date.

according to Digitalbits, the 'initial' director's cut will be released first (this year) on both HD and Blu-Ray, followed by the 'true' Director's Cut released in the latter end of 2007 (in one 'ol box set containing multiple cuts/versions of the film).

No problem. I'd love to know what the hell they're releasing before that. These dates are so sporadic.

"We were delighted to collaborate with Paramount in the creation of this extraordinary HD-DVD," added Kim Aubry, Nickelodeon's VP of Technology and Executive Producer of the HD-DVD. "To have the opportunity to take a film that we truly love and spend six months looking through the vaults for interesting 'lost' objects was something too good to pass up. We contacted the original filmmakers in our quest for great HD-DVD extras; and we were led to photographs, tapes, student films and forgotten promotional materials that when viewed today add insight to the film and the filmmaker. Kenan and Kel's new commentary is amazing and we believe will become 'required' viewing for 'Good Burger' buffs and film lovers everywhere."

Good Burger was originally a sketch on the popular children's variety series "All That." Good Burger features acclaimed young actors Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as two teenagers who have to spend their summer working at a fast food joint. Things get interesting when their restaurant may get shut down due to their new competitor Mondo Burger. The film features cameos from Carmen Electra ("Baywatch"), Shaquille O'Neal (the NBA), and George Clinton (P Funk). Abe Vigoda and Linda Cardelini ("Freaks and Geeks") co-star.

Own this modern classic on April 1, 2007.

Well in the past it was always associated with a fake Criterion release - which is what made it more funny since the odds on Criterion releasing it are extremely thin.

It's only slightly funny since Good Burger is not really a showcase for HD formats. But with regards to quality of film, Im not sure it's much worse than Van Helsing or Doom (both with HD releases). ;)
