It's right here...along with a shitload of other releases that aren't on the list.

Oy. I think I'm going to bite.

Updated with Paramount titles.

Mr. Cinema 04-20-06 08:22 AM

Looks like Million Dollar Baby is delayed again. Amazon.com now says it will be available on 4/22, citing "production issues" as the reason for the delays.

digitalfreaknyc 04-20-06 08:43 AM

More dates according to avsforum:

Batman Begins - 5/2
Troy - 5/16
Shawshank Redemption - 5/16
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 5/16
Matrix - 4/25
Constantine - 5/12
Bourne Supremacy (we knew this - but still) - 5/23
Dukes of Hazzard - 5/9
Cinderella Man - 5/19

Mr. Cinema 04-20-06 08:48 AM

From Amazon.com's descriptions, it looks like all the features from the 2-disc sets of Jarhead and Cinderella Man will be included in the HD version.

Maybe that's why the 2 disc Jarhead went OOP. They want those extras to be exclusives on HD and Limited Edition for DVD.

Mr. Cinema 04-20-06 09:02 AM

I was thinking the same thing for both as well. I'm glad they are since I didn't purchase the 2-disc of either one. I'm really looking forward to some of the exclusive HD content that will be showing up. An article posted in another thread was saying that some of Universal's HD content will be fully online interactive. From that article:

"One example of HD bonus content Kornblau illustrated was for the studio's upcoming day-and-date release of 'Fast and the Furious: Toyko Drift' due later this year. Viewers could connect to the internet via the player, "trick out" a car seen in the film, then reinsert their creation back into the movie. Users could also click on the tire of a car seen in the film, then go online to purchase it and other related products."

Sounds very interesting. I hope King Kong has some HD content. They're also going to be releasing "hybrid" discs which will have both the HD and DVD version on 1 disc. This will help those who haven't upgraded yet, but plan to in the future.

I have to say the one thing I'm liking about the HD DVD format is the fact I no longer have to debate over the one disc or two disc editions now that studios have split them this way.

The HD DVD version is the 2 disc version with at least the Warner releases so I'm basically getting the HD version for the same price as the 2 disc DVD version.

Looking forward to Batman Begins and Troy

Exactly. But at this point, nothing surprises me. We haven't gotten release dates for a lot of these so it seems like they're flying by the seat of their pants.

digitalfreaknyc 04-20-06 12:24 PM

The Matrix is confirmed for next week. Looks like they're going to be springing titles on us at this point.

digitalfreaknyc 04-20-06 01:32 PM

Here are the Japanese HD-DVD's in case anyone is interested:

Where do you see it confirmed? I'm pretty sure that someone on AVS has debunked that listing as a glitch in the Best Buy database.

No problem. Just didn't know if you had more recent information confirming it.

Actually...now they're re-confirming it. Who the hell knows at this point. I guess we'll see next week.

darkside 04-20-06 07:07 PM

With HD DVD off to a fairly good start we may see more releases get added in a hurry while all us early adopters are hungry for as many discs as we can grab. Someone got a copy of Doom in their player so many of these discs are already mastered and ready for production.

Mr. Cinema 04-20-06 07:29 PM

I'm hoping Inside Man will be a day & date HD title. I think it will since it's Universal.
