notes on DVDPlanet trade in:

they take a week or so but on occasion I have had a longer wait for credit to show

they can be very picky and can be very not picky - think it depends on who is accepting them - if they do not take them they mail them back to you

if you have PVD, they have different UPC than regular retail and are not in the system - I have been told that despite them being the same they do not accept them though I do not think I have tried to send any.

Ive done both ebay and dvdplanet.

For big batches, i definately use dvdplanet. After shipping, it can take a few weeks for them to credit your account (one of my large ones took a month), but seriously, I hate doing it on ebay.

After selling fees, paypal fees and trouble of shipping smaller batches, I would rather use dvdplanet. In the end, its about the same as ebay prices (in my experience).

I have called them on this recently and they said they will review the titles individually when a UPC doesn't match up. Some of my dvd UPC's have not matched up exactly and they were not from CH or former rental copies, so I don't know why that is the case. At least they'll send them back if they are rejected.

Yeah it usually take a couple of weeks for the credit to show up. I've only had one instance where it took a month and I just gave them a call. They said they just gone through the package and gave me a credit within 5 mins. They have good customer service and are very helpful. I got tired of dealing with ebay also. It's just become too much of a pain. Glad to see they updated their titles.

Thanks to the expertise on this forum, I turned the DVD's that I was trying to sell over in the exchange area, to DVDPlanet for a cool (up to possibly) $264.

How strict are these guys on scratches/etc.? I'm gonna get some optical wipes and go through, make sure I didn't leave any smudges at least, on any of the ones I'm sending in.

Awesome!...I really think it can be better than going ebay. Ive put movies out on ebay and they didnt sell. Plus, having to watch auctions and compile addresses/packaging for each customer becomes a hassle.

This seems like the best alternative for those not wanting that hassle. Also, ive looked at a couple other sites that buys DVDs. DVDplanet gives the best prices and provides HD-DVDs for us to buy. That, combined with the coupons is a pretty good deal.

I do warn you though. When ordering from DVDplanet, the free shipping is pretty slow. After receiving a shipment notice, I got my item about 2 weeks later. If your pressed for time, another shipping method is recommended, but its YMMV. Thats been my experience, but I dont mind waiting for some titles.

In my experience, they're unbelievably super-strict. Don't even bother trying to send them a scratched disc. Anything with a blemish on the surface will be rejected.

I've done two shipments and banked probably $300 in credit. I didn't have a single disc rejected, but I am careful with my discs.

Agreed, if you discs are scratched then I wouldn't bother sending them in.

Everytime I see a new post, I keep on thinking it's bargain related. But it's only DVDPlanet stuff.

10% didn't work for me on BB, Charlie and Corpse.

Already emailed Amazon about it.

According to the current Fry's thread in the Bargain forum, Aeon Flux and Dukes of Hazard are on sale ($14.99 or $17.99 depending on which store).

Yeah, I know, not much of a bargain but I thought I'd mention that Seabiscuit is now down to $19.27 at Amazon. That makes it $17.34 with the 10% discount.

Since I had it paired with a Grand Prix pre-order I was able to cancel my order and replace it with one at the slightly lower price. Yes, I pinch pennies...

Amazon is cheaper, of course, but I noticed on Best Buy's site that Terminator 3 and Dirty Dozen are both priced at $21.99. Add in the previous 4 Warner titles that included Troy that they had for $18.99, and it seems like they are at least pricing the WB titles cheaper. Usually when a title retails for $28 or $29, BB prices it at $24.99, so these are a few dollars cheaper. Just a heads up for those who do not like purchasing online.
