Meh, more titles I couldn't care less about. Except the fantastic "Little Man", that is making me think again about getting a BD player! I know studios are hesitant on releasing their big guns yet, but so far Disney has to have the worst lineup of BD titles.

Was that a joke about Little Man?

Disney still has not yet announced a title I am interested in. However, there was a list for another country (Japan?) that included The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I would buy if I eventually get a BD player.

Yes. Disney just announced a whole slew of craptacular released exclusive to Blu Ray. Obviously Blu Ray won't be getting Toy Story or Lion King anytime soon, but instead you get Goal, Little Man, and Sky High.

Edit: Now I'm a bit confused. Is this Disneys first launch of Blu Ray titles? I read in various places its Disneys first and then second wave. Which is it? There are a handful of Disney and Fox movies I'm dying to get but they have not been announced. Im gonna get a PS3 soley for Blu Ray...but want to make sure there will be enough movies to warrant that puchase.

For what it is, Sky High is a damn good movie with a really excellent cast. If I had a Blu Ray player, I'd buy it. Alas, my odds of owning it aren't too good.

I saw a bit of Sky High on cable and it did look like fun. Still, it's not the kind of movie you use to launch a new format.

I'd've picked up Sky High and Casanova but I'm staying away from BD (unless I see serious improvement and major price drop).

None of those BD titles interest me at all with the exception of Monster House.

Just picked up Traffic and LW2. Waiting to see what's going on with Backdraft. 3 places in NYC supposedly have it but the 1 BB that I went to on lunch didn't have it out.

There was no Backdraft at my the CC, BB and WM near my office.

Also noticed that it's pretty much unavailable at any of the Houston-area BB stores for In-store Pick-up.

I have a feeling there's a lot of confusion about this title. The store I went to supposedly had 8 copies...now they have 6. I'm waiting to hear back as to when I can pick it up

Damn, grainy???? I was right on the fence about this one and haven't seen a review yet, are you talking about the movie itself or just the deleted scenes?

Most, if not all, films shot on Super35 are grainy. It's just a very grainy film stock.

The deleted scenes are full-frame and have cuts all over the place. they're in VERY rough form.

I honestly don't see what the deal is. The only other version of this movie is non-anamorphic and has the wrong aspect ratio. This one has a crapload of extras, a killer soundtrack and it's in HD.

Maybe not to everyone else but to me, this is a no-brainer.

Am I the only one buying movies that I like as opposed to what will look and sound pretty???

Some scenes, especially the first 10 minutes, are grainy. But then later on the picture really picks up and looks very good. I thought the sound was just ok. Not bad by any means, but not as aggressive as I would have liked.

To each his own but they're a helluva lot more active than they were on the laserdisc/vhs. This was my demo, way back when. I love that first fire scene and the sound design is just awesome. Hell, I was surprised when the surrounds kicked in for "The Show Goes On."

I've never been a huge fan, but it's one of the few I've had mild interest in and didn't pick up in SD-DVD. It's certainly not high on my list, and if the A/V quality isn't going to add anything, I'll probably get it through Netflix and not have to own it. I'm trying to be a bit more frugal and picky with HD-DVD than I was with SD-DVD.

The proper aspect ratio is 2.35:1. The previous laserdisc and DVD were 2.10:1.
