No... It's a good thing. Mods/Reviewers are the first test group :)

Thanks! I'm down a total of 50lbs!

that doesnt include government leaders? :(

Wizdar 12-06-04 06:16 PM

matrix.kleinman.com seems blocked for me, so no change.

Avatars, but no buttons. Oh well.

NC-36 12-06-04 06:36 PM

Why do the ad banners under the first post screw up the display of the whole first page ? All I get to see is the first post on the first page, and cannot see any other posts to the thread unless
(A) I go to page 2, which skips over the first 25 responses or
(B) I click the reply button and read the responses there from bottom to top.

I use IE from work, if that makes a difference.

This sucks :(

Sweeeet...

The buttons are missing again! The links for AIM, MSN IM, Yahoo IM, and start new thread. But now I can click on the username...

Any chance you can put "Start new thread" under 'Quick Links'?

or what domain to I need to ok in my Norton? I have it set to allow dvdtalk.com ads.dvdtalk.com and kleinman.com, ads.kleinman.com

Even when I disable Norton and turn off the IE pop up blocker, and re-load 20 times and kill cookies, nada.

Thanks.

Usually when I quote another member, I shrink the size of their quote. However, whenever I type "[SIZE=1]", it does nothing. At first, I thought it was because I would type "SIZE" in lower case [size truly matters?], but even after trying it in upper case, it still doesn't shrink it.

abintra 12-07-04 05:48 AM

I'm not reading this entire thread so apologies if this has been mentioned. The daily review posts in the Review forum are not posting and instead just creating the thread title without a post.

It's much harder to scan topic threads now.

Anyone else with me on this one? I just wanted to make sure it was being considered.

Thanks for the heads-up. I fixed it the morning the new software went up, but I "fixed" an old version, and the newer version that was continuing to run was still broken. It should all be running correctly now.

Wizdar 12-07-04 09:03 AM

So, a person gets banned (I assume) and their posts automatically disappear?

Looks like avatars can be hijacked.

Apologies if this has been mentioned (didn't see it) ... the popup layers for the user menus on each post ("View Public Profile", etc) are inconsistent. For the first poster, it's left justified, and on all the others it's centered (except for the last post on each page, where it's left again). I'm not sure which is the one you want (I suspect left justified since it looks much better). I'm guessing there's an unclosed tag somewhere or some javascript that doesn't anticipate the odd placement of the google link that might be creating this.

hmmm
maybe just that 1 post was removed?
hopefully not every post ever made by a BANNED member is automatically removed.. that would kindof suck
considering not all their posts would have been bad
and we rely on seeing their old posts and noticing the BANNED under their name, to realize they are gone

rather than just having members disappearing during the night, without anyone knowing what happened

Adam Tyner 12-07-04 10:13 AM

Posts from banned users are not be automatically removed.

Chrisedge 12-07-04 10:33 AM

I do like the avatars. Consider them for premium members.

That be good.

Heat 12-07-04 10:44 AM

It’s not really a bug, but…

The way it is currently set up the threads with new posts since your last visit to any forum show up as a different color. If you can set it so that you see threads with new posts since your last visit to that particular forum (say, Bargains or Movie Talk), and not to any forum, it would be appreciated.

With it this way, if you jump into a forum to see if anybody has responded to whichever thread, you aren’t resetting all of the other forums.

Wizdar 12-07-04 10:59 AM

I tried a search and couldn’t find any from that particular person. Several threads he posted in come up, with quotes from him, but no actual posts. User name search to show results as posts comes up empty.

This may be a bug? If twikoff ever gets BANNED (God forbid!), and posts are actually deleted, the total Forum post count would be reset by an order of magnitude. ;)

das Monkey 12-07-04 12:58 PM

<b>Geoff</b>, are you going to turn off those silly hover tooltips (title attribute) for the first post in each thread on the thread listing? That has to be murder on the bandwidth and it's almost completely gratuitous.

I'll second this as well.. it also slows down the browser a bit as well. We all practice (for the most part) coherent thread titling so there's no real need for the preview.

Gil Jawetz 12-07-04 01:32 PM

Plus doesn't it risk ruining spoilers or revealing "naughty" language?

Wizdar 12-07-04 01:36 PM

Yeah, good call. I turned those off.

das Monkey 12-07-04 02:36 PM

It could just be my perception (or something completely unrelated), but it does seem like the main pages have been loading more quickly over the last ~10 mins or so.

I don't think you want to get into it with my avatar. He doesn't have a pretty history.

das Monkey 12-07-04 02:50 PM

At the risk of spoiling anything, I'll drag my avatar out of the bar before anything happens. Rest assured, though, you do not want to rumble with it.

Im apathetic on those things.. but i click so much, i never let the mouse rest long enough to see them

but judging from these threads... it seems like there have been more people in here talking about how much they lose those things, than people against them

meh.. doesnt make much difference to me one way or the other

dick_grayson 12-07-04 03:36 PM

i've been away for a week and came back to the new format. refreshing doesn't do shit and there's more ad crap here than on any site I've seen. I hope things are fixed and this place doesn't go the way of the cash-cow milking referral site

Gil Jawetz 12-07-04 03:43 PM

what do you mean refreshing doesn't do shit? and the only additional ad AFAIK is the one under the first post.

when I refresh on the "new posts" page, it's just the same list. I have to go back to the main forum page and re-click the new posts. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Either way, I liked it when the ads were dvd related. all the cheaptickets and stuff is distracting and unwelcoming.
