This is probably a Firefox issue, but when you click on a posters name in IE you get a nice dropdown menu with profile/email/homepage/etc options, but with FF clicking on the uname makes the menu appears but it also acts like a regular link because it takes you to their profile.

... I haven't read everything everybody's said so I expect others have noticed that we now have only the last 500 posts on our personal post pages. Will that go back to the way it was or is there another way to see our (and others') earlier posts? |

You can delete the link for Private Messages in the Quick Links menu since they are disabled
|
Also, does "quote message in reply?" do anything for quick reply?

Ok here's a weird one:
In order to keep track of new posts in all the threads I've posted in across all the forums (basically everywhere but the book forum ;) ) I used to do a "search" for my username. That way it would bump threads that someone else had posted in to the top (unlike, say, if I hit "search" in one of my posts which would sort in order of when I posted which wouldn't update). Then when the search was complete I could just keep that results page up and hit "reload" and it would tell me if any of the threads had had any activity. I found this easier than subscribing to tons of threads. Now, however, when I leave the computer and come back and hit "reload" it acts like I did an invalid search. Know what I mean? Tough to describe. |
I'm surprised it used to work. Maybe the search "remember" time is shorter now.
You should notice in the URL of the results page that a parameter is the search ID. That search ID persists in the system only for a certain amount of time before you have to recreate the search. |
Using Safari, I have to log in each time I come back. I don't quit the browser either. How long is the cookie set to expire? Seems like an hour or so.

found a strange sized ad. Its an ebay one that shows up at the top, but it is truncated, so you can actually scroll down the ad.

That is really the only thing I take issue with. Most of the rest is visual, I can get used to that. |

Aside from the member list thingy I mentioned, the above should be easy to fix. |
I suppose I am a minority here but I liked the old format much better. Since this one is here to stay I also need to add up that I had to log in 4 times so far. I am using Firefox.
Aside from that I have a suggestion/quastion about the design we have in each section of the forum. What are the chances that we downsize the...threads a bit. What I mean is it really looks busy if you open up one of the main sections and you try to look for a specific topic. Pro-B |

I seem to be having the same problem w/ Mozilla. VERY ANNOYING :( |
I can't stay logged in for some reason. Keeps logging me out if I don't post something within 5 minutes or whatever timeframe. Before I could stay logged in for 2 years, and I've had to log in 9 times today so far... haven't even closed my browser window or navigated away from this site.
|
It was suggested earlier to clear out your cookies if you were having problems staying logged in.

What happened to the function of receiving updates to a particular thread? There used to be a little area at the bottom corner of each thread that you could click onto and have the thread update itself. I haven't seen that function since the new version went into effect.
|
I'm using Firefox and I only logged in once yesterday and not since.
|
I use IE, and I also only logged in once yesterday morning and not since.
|
Has this been brought up an addressed yet? Is it an actual bug, or something that geoff needs to change?
In polls, when you click on the view results, not only do you see the number of people that voted for each option, you see who actually voted for each option  Isn't that a big confidentiality issue? I know in phpbb, you have to have a hack to have that show up and it is a confidentially issue. Is vb showing that by default, or is it just an option that hasn't been set yet to turn it off? |
Ive logged in on 3 different computers between yesterday and today..
all IE6 and havent had to re login on any of them yet.. |

I know Twikoff doesn't have to login again (but it's likely cuz he hasn't left his computer or taken his fingers away from the keys since the forum came back up apparently), but I have logged in on 3 different computers as well and two of them logged me out (still working on the 3rd, so we'll see what happens when I walk away for a bit).
ive been on 3 different computers over this timespan.. closing browsers and rebooting my laptop multiple times.. havent had an issue with any of them.. yet. |
ISSUE: One thing that struck me right away that was that the original poster is displayed right below the message title. I find this relatively (ok, extremely) annoying because I like to be able to view as many topics in one screen as possible, putting the OP below the thread title makes the topic page extremely long, and it doesn't flow. It's much harder to scan topic threads now.
Other issues that have already been brought up that I thought I would second: Underlining of thread titles and no "subscribe to this thread" option for threads you haven't posted in. Just wanted to say that I know it's a work in progress and I do appreciate all the work that went into the upgrade. Now make the OP a column like it was! ;) |

Do you know what cookies look like and where to find them? What browser are you using? |
chocolate chip?
I'll second the problem that poll results show who voted for what. I don't think that's right. |

Well, I think I've finally fully adjusted to the new forum. Nice work Geoff!

I brought this up in the "Deeply Offensive" thread, but I think that changing the color of the ads below the first post might help to separate the original post and the ads, both physically and psychologically.
Other than that, I think the upgrade is fine. Still getting used to the new look, but it is slowly growing on me. |
Images just got moved over to ads.kleinman.com so some of you who have that blocked will not see the forum images... so you'll need to unblock them!

Disregard my earlier report of apparent cookie failure on Mozilla 1.7.3. It appears to have corrected itself (I did nothing to try to fix it on my latest attempt to launch the browser, but it is now remembering me). Go figure.
However, I just noticed another issue that I hadn't before. Is there a reason that HTML code is no longer supported in signatures? |
