I don't think HTML was ever allowed in signatures (or at least had not been allowed in quite a long time) -- just vB code, minus images.

Another couple of minor issues... probably mentioned before, but when I post in a thread and go back to the thread list, it shows that thread as being unread. It's somewhat annoying especially with this forum loading alot slower than before.

I still have to hit the back button twice because I've got tribalfusion localhosted in my hosts file through spybot - don't know that this is an issue you can fix, but worth mentioning.

And also, when on my laptop - if I use the search feature and search for threads I've posted in (the extra steps to get there are annoying, but that's not a bug), I can't scroll the results page with my touchpad unless I minimize the window and bring it up again. Strange and annoying. Another item I don't know if you can fix, but I thought maybe the upgrade would fix that issue.

Alright, here's a minor thingee: Used to be that next to "post reply" there was "start a new thread." I found this useful all the time but I can also se the downside (i.e. starting a new thread instead of replying...) Is this being put back? Not big either way.

Is there any way to get the 'search this forum' box back at the bottom of each forum? Or is there an alternate quick search that I can't find?

For me if I click on the poster name itself it follows it like a link, but if I click to the area next to the name I get the pop up menu. In IE it doesn't matter where I click I get the popup menu.

I think what wmansir is asking is it possible to have that on the bottom of the page as well?

twikoff 12-06-04 02:17 PM

i kindof prefer that box at the bottom as well

i could probably get use to using the new one up top

maybe just a matter of accepting change

Venusian 12-06-04 02:35 PM

he said: "Or is there an alternate quick search that I can't find?"

Some of us don’t have a choice in the matter. Perhaps you could contact Websense? They also have your entire site blocked because of “adult content,” but I managed to whine IT into unblocking it. Tried to get ads.kleinman.com unblocked, but the new IT guy doesn't want to. :(

Anteater87 12-06-04 02:52 PM

I didn't see this mentioned in the previous messages.

Can you have the 'Previous Thread | Next Thread' links at the top of the page as well (between 'Post Reply' and pages, just like at the bottom)?

Thanks.

kvrdave 12-06-04 03:10 PM

rotfl

That's awesome.

You're right. I didn't spot it. Thanks.

Somehow i lost the "new thread" & "post reply" buttons. They were here this morning but now they are gone. I only seem able to use the quick reply box.

Probably because we made the switch back to ads.kleinman.com for the images and you're blocking it.

Crap. They're blocked at our firewall.

That can't be true. I've had an 'nbsp' in my signature for years, and it was working fine last week.

damn_skippy 12-06-04 03:51 PM

How do I unblock them Geoff?

damn_skippy 12-06-04 03:53 PM

Sorry but i cannot edit either. Im using mozilla and IE.

thx

GeoffK 12-06-04 03:56 PM

OK I moved them to matrix.kleinman.com can you see them now?

damn_skippy 12-06-04 03:59 PM

I can see them IE but not mozilla.

GeoffK 12-06-04 04:00 PM

even though they've moved?

I was thinking HTML in terms of <s and >s. I believe a PHP function called strip_tags was used in the past to remove those tags. ASCII codes and entity names wouldn't be affected by that. I'm guessing now that the forum is using htmlentities to convert characters to their ASCII/entity equivalent, so instead of displaying a non-breaking space, it's converting the ampersand to &.

damn_skippy 12-06-04 04:01 PM

now i see your picture in mozilla and IE but still no buttons for mozilla.

nope

twikoff 12-06-04 04:05 PM

was that option to create your own custom user title always there?

i would test it out.. but my title is longer than the max.. so if I changed it, i couldnt change back later

Negatory. Not the end of the world, since I couldn't see them on the old version of the forum, but it's nice to see all the buttons and icons...

damn_skippy 12-06-04 04:06 PM

In mozilla there are no buttons not even the instant message butoons.

IE looks great.

Gil Jawetz 12-06-04 04:08 PM

Not to go off topic but I just saw Geoff's avatar. Jeez! You've lost even more weight than I remembered! Not that you were fat before but you're looking quite slim, young man!

damn_skippy 12-06-04 04:09 PM

twikoff why is it not affecting IE and only mozilla.

twikoff 12-06-04 04:11 PM

taking a wild guess that you have the images cached.. and IE is smart enough to use them

go clear your temp internet files and see if you lose em ;)

Gil Jawetz 12-06-04 04:15 PM

I think I did a bad thing. I made an avatar. I didn't think it would go live. Was that only enabled for testing purposes? Should I remove it?

damn_skippy 12-06-04 04:16 PM

ok smarty pants. But i did turn off the ad blocking etc from norton and Ie is still ok but mozilla isnt there.

Tarnower 12-06-04 04:16 PM

Wow! You're much younger than I imagined you to be, Geoff.
You damned kids are making me feel so old........43!!!!!
