I know this is a scary movie watching time but damn...it is dead in here. Appears we need Part IV of the Universal Monsters print series....

Yes, discussion here isn't what it used to be. It's so dead that I sometimes try to hold back because I'll feel like I'm spamming.
But since we're sharing pictures, my dog had a wardrobe change with her bow tie.

Don't hold back. We need all the participation we can muster.
Chad puts too much work into all this for no one to participate.
I looked at the Halloween thread on that "other" forum and it is nowhere near as great as what our moderator (Chad) and viewing group does here but their posts/people count is way more pronounced than ours which is sad.

Those Invisible Man prints are crazy awesome. The only really cool thing that I have is the Criterion Robinson Crusoe on Mars print. These things were crazy huge and I need to take it to Jerry's to get it framed.
I'm working my way through the Zombies list this year, and I just rewatched Se7en (1995). I haven't seen this in over 15 years, and it's still a fantastic movie. The 2 hour run time just flies by.

This site is nowhere near as busy as it used to be years ago. Back in the day a Deep Discount 20% sale thread would spawn multiple pages. But as physical media dwindles this site will die out eventually.

We have so many good posters around these parts that are easier and better to talk to. I would always rather hang out here than any other social media outlet. I just hate that we have lost a lot of good posters over the years for various reasons.

Project Metalbeast - because the world "needs" more movies that are really political thrillers about the moral responsibility of medical experimentation and short on the Kane Hoddder helmed metallic werewolf we were promised. Can I still count a film if I had to fast forward until the last 15 minutes? Im a bit surprised I havent run i to more shamelessness with films teasing an epic setup they deliver far too little of. I blame Project Metalbeast and its ilk for Youtube highlight clip channels that spoil legit films for serving up too little good stuff for the filler of a full run time.

Since we’re encouraging just spewing shit to
keep the thread active (just kidding- it’s all good! )…
I’m up to THREE whole entries this year. I absolutely HATE that October is so damn busy at work (and personal stuff). I barely decorated my yard this year. I threw out there what I could on a Sunday that we didn’t have a million other things to do. And then on a random weeknight, I threw up whatever lighting I could before it got too dark to work.
I did watch “The Blackening” on my flight to San Diego last week. Was decent. Hoping to catch 1 or 2 “Friday the 13th” movies tomorrow on my flight home.

I’ve been watching the Universal Dracula sequels the last few days and I have come to the realization I’ve not seen any of them before. I was surprised by this as I thought I watched every single Universal monster movie when I was a kid. None of the Dracula stand ins are as good as poor Bela so far though

I’m actually kinda bummed I don’t have more time this year to watch the things I was saving. I have so many sealed VS and Severin releases sitting unwatched.
I shouldn’t complain though. Spent many years alone.

I watched Evilspeak for the first time in years, and it still holds up. It's classified as a Video Nasty, although the violence level is fairly tame, at least until the climax qwith the satanic pigs and Cint Howard slaughtering his tormentors with a sword.

Starting the Friday the 13th franchise a little early for tomorrow as I won't be able to get many of them in due to work. I took a week off towards the end of the month, so I'll be able to get a ton in before the end of the challenge. Hoping to break 200 this yera and I'm a quarter of the way there already without any real time off.

The mid-week reminder:
Sunday Night Trivia Question: The Banner Edition
Once again, this year's banner continues to be bigger than last year's and contains more images than previously used in the the past.
All you have to do is NAME 10 MOVIES USED IN THE BANNER. There's hundreds of images used, so plenty to choose from.
Easy access for the lazy:
Everyone that gets at least 10 correct answers will be entered into a drawing and Random.org will decide the outcome.
Submit your answers to me via PM or email (one entry per person).
You'll be playing for the very well-stacked HamiltonBook.com Prize Pack #1:
One extremely lucky winner will receive (USA only please):
Courtesy of...
Random.org will determine the winner.
USA only please.
Contest is open until next Sunday's trivia question begins.
Good luck!

Another recommendation for those doing the subset...don't watch the version on Prime for The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (1923). There are several extremely clean versions on Youtube. The one on Prime is poor compared to several I saw available on Youtube. I learned my lesson with Amazing Mr. X.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
I hit 50 tonight. Not bad for the 12th of the month.
If you're looking for an oddity, I enjoyed DEMENTIA (1955) tonight, which is a subset movie. Very unusual and moody. And I'm someone who dislikes films without a story. But this one did such a great job of capturing what it must be like to actually be insane.
Another oddity -- WHITE DOG (1982) starring Kristy McNichols, Burl Ives and Paul Winfield. It also has Paul Bartel in it, who is on the checklist/actors. In the film, Kristy McNichols adopts a dog she hits with her car and later learns the dog was trained to kill black people. She loves the dog and tries to find someone to "cure" him. Paul Winfield plays a black animal trainer determined to recondition the dog. It's definitely horror lite (other than the horrific social issues) but I found it effective and thought-provoking. I've never seen any film quite like it, so big points for originality.

Same here. Would like to hear if it is worth the buy or just regurgitating everything else that has been written so many times before.

When I was looking at the IMDB and looking up some of the actors, I saw that there have been two direct sequels to Part VI. They are fan films and are on Youtube. They have a few of the people in Part VI show up in these. They are called Friday The 13th: Vengeance Part I and Part II. I plan to check them out.

I bring up The Devil and Daniel Webster on here any chance I get. I first watched this movie when I was a kid back in the 80s. Can’t remember now if it was on the fledgling AMC (back when they were like TCM) or if it was a local tv station (the kind that showed old movies on a Sunday afternoon). These were the places I got my early movie education. I have always found this film to have the spookiest atmosphere of just about any ‘horror’ film ever. I’m watching it now on my Criterion dvd on my 8k tv and I am surprised at how good it looks…too many other DVDs I have gotten rid of because they just don’t upscale well….highly recommended.
a great pairing for this challenge is this movie with Cat People, the connection of course being Simone Simon who is both spooky and terrifying.
