Dusk is at 6:57 tonight here. The hard part is waiting for that time. But I'm watching some horror stuff I know I won't have time for during the challenge to get me through the day.

Only about another half an hour before I can start. Not exactly sure what my opening movie will be. Except that I know it will be theme compliant for the crossover night.

Anyone know what the crossover subset pick was? I usually just pluck it off the first page, but it's not there yet.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found it. It's The Witch. I remember not liking it. Don't know if I'll do subsets this year or not. I'm going to start out doing them.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

October really snuck up on me this year. I've had my head elsewhere between things going on with the family and heavy work demands the last few months. I think I'm going to avoid setting any real goals this year so I don't disappoint myself. I'll probably hit a bunch of favorites, but I did renew Shudder for the month of October to try some things out. But I'm going to take it easy. I hate when I make this a thing to stress over instead of excitement and joy after starting this nearly 20 years ago. (How has it been so long since we started this?)

You know, thinking about some of my favorites I'm going to revisit is starting to make me more excited already

I have less than ten minutes before I can begin. What's everyone's first watch going to be? I'm kicking it off with Chucky in Child's Play (1988).

I've got about 40 minutes to go. I've settled on Virus (1980) as my first. After that maybe Renfield (2023) or a suitable Rifftrax title.

Since I watched the first two Godzilla movies earlier in the month, not counting Godzilla: King Of The Monsters , I decided to continue the series for at least one more movie, and I watched Rodan. Even if someone didnít have Max, the criterion collection versions of all of those movies are officially on YouTube in the ad supported movie section.

Iíd recommend giving it another chance. Iíve heard lots of people say they didnít like it the first time they saw it, but now love it.

Found a commentary on YouTube so going to watch it twice tonight. Bring on the VVitch!

I'm finishing up the Criterion/Arthouse Challenge, so it's Peeping Tom, probably followed by Don't Look Now.

Watching the beginning of Child's Play 2 (1990) now, and this Good Guy company must have been some penny-pinching sons of bitches, to refurbish a burned up doll for resale. I actually like part 2 the best in the series.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Decided that I had enough in me for a double feature, so decided to browse VUDU. I came across a very interesting documentary on the Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark books. There was plenty of discussion of the frightening artwork, and how the artwork actually led to a book banning campaign in school libraries. The documentary was titled, appropriately enough, Scary Stories.

Yep. Same here. I just started Child's Play 3, though, so I'll get 3 in tonight. Finish the rest in the morning and try to make it through 2 seasons of TV afterwards. Not sure I'll get them all in, though.

Sponsor announcement #1...

They have graciously donated two mystery prints.

Yes, this is the place that commissions the beautifully batshitcrazy Ghana posters from Ghanaian artist Mr. Nana Agyq.

Here's an example of their work:

Chad, I think your table is incorrect. IMDB says Ready or Not came out in 2019. Your table has 2017.

By the way, I have a couple friends over, and we have started the challenge with Ready or Not - in case that wasn't obvious.

I was planning on two movies tonight, but I watched the 156 minute version of Virus (1980), and it's done and I'm done. No regrets though, it's one of the better apocalypse movies I've seen.

Like Trevor, I misplaced my Blu-ray of The Witch, so getting ready to start watching Dolls (1988). Good to see Arrow bring this one back in print.

I've seen The Dolls once. Very creepy, even in this day and age.

What better way to start off the Month of October then with the first sound horror film, Dracula (1931)?. Dracula is a masterpiece that I believe is under appreciated by modern audiences due to the limitations placed on the production in 1930. Bela Lugosi and Dwight Frye performances are still memorable and will stand the test of time.
