Death Game is better than Knock Knock mainly due to Sondra Locke's performance

Probably a strange question, but anyone watch them Lifetime movies for the challenge. Saw on Hulu Girl in the Basement and sounded very interesting and I'm a sucker for those "real life" type movies. Doesn't get more scary and real than getting kidnapped and locked up somewhere fighting for your life.

I heard really good things about this movie, too. How did so many people not only endure this but like it? Any defenders here? I'd love to hear it.
On its initial theatrical release, I fell for the hype and drove over 45-minutes to see it.

Didn't like it one single bit. One person in the theater stormed out after going on a verbal tirade about it

I'm immensely appreciative of the work Chad puts in

With the school year starting off so rocky (I'm a Middle/High School Teacher), I haven't had the energy to do much of what I love.

I only watched (4) films all of September due to stress & exhaustion but because of this Horror Challenge, have found the inspiration to watch (18) films this October (not counting non-Horror).

I think with the ambient sound and the bizarre images that a viewing with a tab of acid might vastly improve the experience.

Talk about having a bad trip!

Funny that this movie came up because I had nabbed it on BD from my local library this week to see what the hype was about. I watched it today and had to literally wake myself up 3 times during it. It has fantastic atmosphere and sound that would make your blood curdle...for 20 minutes. But this motherfucker does the same thing and lasts for an hour 40 goddamn minutes! It would have made a great short film. But the movie has zero payoff for the amount of time it is asking you to invest. I was quite disappointed.

I followed it up with Stake Land which is a fantastically bleak, unbelievably good-looking low budget movie. I haven't seen it in forever and after watching it, it appears the creators of it should sue The Last Of Us for numerous, way too close for comfort, resemblances. This movie came out in 2010 and the video game not until 2013. The TV show of last year and Stake Land feel eerily similar as well. I highly recommend watching it if you have not seen it. It is currently streaming on Peacock and when I looked it up, I had no idea there was a sequel which is also streaming on Peacock.

The funny thing is that Skinamarink (2022) is loosely-inspired by Director Kyle Edward Ball's proof-of-concept/short film Heck (2020).

I really can't say, you'd have to consult with GoldenWheels regarding that. All I can tell you is that's been the policy since the first sponsorship in 2010.

Thanks for the article. I added Carrie to my watches today in tribute. Always such a powerful movie to revisit.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Sunday Night Trivia Question: Chapter II

A celebration of the sun gods.

On October 14, 2023 the annular "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse occurred with the next being a total eclipse on April 8, 2024. To many this is simply a beautiful anomaly, but to others the sun marks the center of the spiritual universe. Sometimes this involves murder and sacrifice, which can be traced back to the various sun cults and even more recent events like the Cult of the Solar Temple. But cults aren't always associated with the sun or even real life -- over the years many have been depicted cinematically. Such depictions can be found in folk horror settings like The Wicker Man (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year), the more modern takes found in The Lodge or the cosmic dread of The Void. With that said, don't forget the words of Lord Summerisle - "Flesh to touch...Flesh to burn! Don't keep the Wicker Man waiting!".

Name 3 of your favorite horror movies involving cults.

A list to refresh your memory.

That's it. There are no right or wrong answers. Randomly drawn. USA only please.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 19th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Yesterday, a friend came over, and we had a campy horror movie marathon. We watched four movies:

Blue Monkey: A huge insect terrifies people in a hospital, and they must destroy it after the government quarantines the hospital. It was a really fun, enjoyable flick, and I'm happy I bought it on sale. The bug effects were goopy and icky, and the hair was 90s-tastic!

Death Curse of Tartu: A group of archeologists are menaced by a 400 year old witchdoctor mummy in the Everglades. The director's introduction gave some insight into the making of the movie that made it a more fun to watch. My friend and I were riffing on the obvious padding such as as the long stretches of people canoeing, walking, and boating around. Tartu changes into various Floridian animals to kill off the archeologists which made for a couple gruesome kills.

Father's Day: A serial killer goes after dads, and a trio of unlikely heroes go after the killer. I watched one of the filmmaker's other movies, The Editor, which was more successful. It was a giallo spoof that had some good moments. This movie was definitely a Troma-shocker with lots of blood, gore, and shock-for-shock's-sake plot developments. I'm glad I watched it with someone so we could yell "gross" together.

From a Whisper to a Scream: We ended with an anthology film in which a historian tells a reporter stories of the grotesque deaths in a supposedly cursed town. My favorite involved a man who is nursed back to health by a man in the swamp after being shot and decides to try to steal the man's secrets.

Congrats Toddarino!

I was literally knocked out by Come True, and just woke up in the morning. Missed the first Trivia, but I will get #2 in early this week.

Funny about Skinamarink (2022). I've been waffling on it since it came to Shudder, and still have not seen it despite many, many opportunities to check it out. I'll give it a pass this time. I did like Bad Things which arrived a few weeks ago. Speaking of Shudder, there's some good stuff there this month, and I've enjoyed most of what I have seen, regarding 'new' stuff. (Influencer, Brooklyn 45)

I love Blue Monkey, and I think it's one of Bill's best releases.

Anyone seen Infinity Pool?

Final Universal Monsters pix. I started with the combo Ross print and here is the combo Whalen that was included but there were two that fit together.
