Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I love Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter (the best one) & Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. I'm very excited about these releases but I'm really not that excited about Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning special edition. They better do a special edition for Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood & it better be uncut because they butchered it really bad back in the day.

I hope they actually release a new box set. I'd rather get them all in one fell swoop than pick them all up individually.

Damn!! I wasn't planning on double dipping, but I guess I have no choice now.

So I need to pick up:

Parts 1-3
His Name is Jason documentary.

After 4-6 are re-released, all this will probably cost more than the previous box set.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

As much as I'll be tempted to get these, I think ultimately lack of funds will make the decision to not buy these much easier.

Maybe it's better (for my wallet anyway) that they aren't putting these out on Blu-ray yet. That would be a lot harder to resist.

In the meantime, I'll at least give these a rental if the special features are anything to write home about.

Looking forward to this year! I wonder if they'll do parts 7 and 8 as well just to complete the special editions.

Part VII may have had the most footage cut by mandates from the MPAA, but V, also didn't fare that well either, it also suffered massive cuts, why and how the 'censored' footage isn't kept and just thrown to the wind is beyond me.

They aren't going to release the others uncut. I wish, but they seem very stubborn about it. Personally, other than Part 1, I most want to see Part 2 restored as it's my other favorite. Part 7 really needs it too. It seemed really butchered and the sleeping bag death is fantastic, but just so weak in the film.

Yeah the director of VII John Carl Buechler still has all the deleted/cut footage.
Most of them were featured on the box set, they just need cleaned up....
They could easily do something like the upcoming My Bloody Valentine release.
John Carl Buechler has always been upset about his film being butchered....
It could happen,I'm crossing my fingers for it....

i hope for this as well? surprised there was no announcement for a complete box set with some little goodies as that would seem very logical...

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I want to check out all the fan commentaries for 4-6, but I want to listen to Part V the most, because it has a girl as one of the commentators, and it's said to really foul mouthed and hilarious. I hope Paramount doesn't censor the commentaries.

Has anybody ever heard a good fan commentary?

I've never heard any fan commentary. I'm assuming the worst. Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.

Day of the Dead and Road House have very enjoyable fan commentaries.

Yeah, Day of the Dead was the first one that came to mind. Also, Joe Bob Briggs commentary for I Spit on Your Grave is probably the best commentary I've ever heard.

So I'm assuming the specials of IV-VI will coincide with the DVD of the remake?

To say that Road House has a great fan commentary is kind of cheating when the "fans" in question are Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier.

Over at ezydvd, the special features list for the Australian release of Friday the 13th Part 3D has several features listed that aren't on the US release. I'll probably pick up that release.

Lost Tales from camp blood part 3, fresh cuts: 3D terror, and Legacy of the mask are all exclusive to this release, unless they somehow manage to appear on the US release as well.

I might guess, since those seem to be in line with the US release's bonuses for 1 and 2, and SEs are planned of 4, 5 and 6, perhaps it's just an error and the 3rd film will get the deluxe treatment in the US.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

It sucks Paramount won't pay for 2-6 (and probably 7 & 8) to be released uncut. One of my friends is in charge of doing the new SE's for 4-6 and he said they aren't interested in paying to restore the footage, but he is trying to assemble whatever he can for some good supplements.

It's a shame that Paramount owns these movies. They never did care much for this franchise, regardless of how much money it brought in for them.

No kidding. I wish NL had just gotten the rights to the entire series. You know they would have pumped out some awesome editions.

Killer,

any idea if the Blu-rays of 2 and 3 will hit US anytime soon? Also, any idea if the DVDs will have slip covers?
