Yeah, but Bracke is the F13 know-it-all right? I mean, Ferrands didn't write the book, he edited it.

I really don't like to thread crap, and this isn't meant as such. I just want to add to the discussion that after purchasing all of these on VHS, and then again on DVD (twice). I love these movies but I think the only way I would purchase them again as in the uncut format (with hella special features). I would love blu-ray, but honestly these movies being as old as they are and a cheap as they were I doubt it would make a huge difference.

from Bloody-Disgusting:

This past weekend Fridaythe13thfilms attended "The Scare Fest” in Lexington, KY, where they discovered some fantastic news from a Paramount Home Entertainment rep who was on hand. "A representative of Paramount stated that the upcoming release of FRIDAY THE 13TH on DVD would be fully restored and uncut including the extended sequences! Extended cuts already exist in Japan and a few other countries. But this will be the first time this footage has ever been released on DVD and restored." No word yet on what will happen with the other films, but we've got our fingers crossed Paramount will show us some f*cking respect.
Fingers crossed that the rest will get decent treatment as well.

...and that would make me buy the DVD again. Though I'd still prefer the BD.

Well, I passed on the first set, already owning all the films individually. Maybe I'll go for this one..

Awesome news!

Here's hoping they found some of the lost scenes from Parts 2 and 3

Though most horror fans have imported the uncut version of F13, I'm glad to finally see that more will be able to see the film in it's original form.

I didn't buy the last box set because it was sorely lacking. Add me to the group that hopes this time they'll do it right.

I really do hope 2 and 3 are also uncut here. The wording from the rep is a little nebulous, as they could be referencing either just the original or the trio they are planning. To be perfectly honest I'd be much more excited for the latter since the uncut deaths from the original film have been widely available for some time now.

That Kevin Bacon neck appliance looks awful in the uncut footage though. I hope they clean that up. Otherwise I'd like to get a revamped full set in slim cases.

here's hoping for individual uncut releases along with the box set since i've bought all the titles one at a time throughout the years.

I'm glad somebody else out there noticed this. The shortened side angle in the "Cut" version is MUCH more effective.

After the comparisons of viewing the uncut footage from the previous box set, I'm in no hurry to double-dip on an uncut version of part I....Part VII on the other hand...

I'm only (somewhat) interested in a double dip if all of the films are uncut.

From Blu-Ray.com:

Friday the 13th Announced for Blu-ray

Posted November 3, 2008 12:10 PM by Josh Dreuth

Paramount Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Friday the 13th Unrated: Deluxe Edition' to Blu-ray on February 3rd, day-and-date with the DVD re-release. Technical specs have yet to be announced, but you can expect the usual Paramount treatment of 1080p video accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Extras have also yet to be announced for the Blu-ray, but it should mirror the DVD release which includes:

* Commentary: Commentary by director Sean Cunningham (on the WB international version - trying to access)
* Fresh Cuts: New Tales from "Friday the 13th"
* Man Behind the Legacy: Sean S. Cunningham
* Friday the 13th - Special Reunion
* Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 1
* Theatrical Trailer - Used on 2004 release

Sounds great so far!

I never got the boxset from a few years ago; could these extras be from that boxset? Just a question..

Does this mean they are attempting to get the rights to the R2 group commentary track, or is this an entirely new commentary with only Cunningham?
