I DIDN'T GET IT YET DAMNIT LOL
The US postal system just happens to be very slow ALL the time. But I've just been hearing that the handle is very easy to break. I guess that eliminates using it solely for the office lol.

Well why are you nervous about the handle then?
The handle is fine and the case overall is pretty solid. Its not like your gonna be taking it out with you when your chasing replicants!
Anyway i hope you get yours soon.

Finally saw the contents of my friend's briefcase.
The case is NOT even close to being the weak part of this thing. Wait to you see the spinner and the lame ass fuzzy looking plastic image thingy. The spinner not only doesn't have working wheels it doesn't even have non-working wheels that look like wheels.
So you're getting a case with a handle you sure don't want to use, a lot of padded foam a few nice cards with graphic images on them, a NON-REMOVABLE plastic letter that's hard to read and gets in the way of getting the discs out of the case. A unicorn that fine for what it is and a spinner that's an insult to toys made in China.
All for 30 dollars more than a five disc hi-def set.
Merry Christmas from Warner Home Video.

The workprint is a fairly different cut. You just have to understand it can only be so different. In the commentary Sammon said there are about a hundred differences from the other versions. Most of them are extended or shorted shots, some new, some alternate ones, and the last reel contains completely different music, temp tracks from other films. What this amounts to is a film that feels different, it has different pacing and the tone of the last reel especially is different. But like I said, it's still Blade Runner and it unfolds in the way you've always known.
The documentary on the disc (All Our Variant Futures) is also my favorite in the set. So the SD briefcase set was completely worth it.
I think it's really interesting to see how different each version feels. They are very similar in length, but the pacing feels different in all of them. The Final Cut moves the best, IMO. That's why it amazes me when people say a film would be better with 15 minutes cut out. Just cutting seconds out makes a noticeable difference.
I'd also like to point out that the blue cinematography that some people were rueing isn't just a new trend in films. It was pointed out, in I believe Sammon's commentary, that on the set the room where Bryant debriefs Deckard on the replicants was called the "blue room" because it was bathed in blue light. This is obvious in every version. So it seems that Ridley Scott may have popularized this style.

Yesterday I got the 4 disc set from Amazon.com.
I was watching disc 2 and it froze up and around 1:51:00 and stayed that way for awhile and then jumped to a minute or so later and played normally.
I took the disc out and there is a smudge or something on the disc, it's the only one of the set that has this smudge. I don't want to go thru the hassle of returning the entire set just because of one disc.
Is there anyway to remove this smudge that would make it play correctly?

Well I just got done viewing The Final Cut. I was instructed to watch that first, since I've never seen any of the films before. After completing the FC, I proceeded to watch the DC. I thought I was sent another copy of the FC. lol they're way too similar. Well for someone who's never seen the film before and doesn't know what to look for.
I then jumped to the theatrical. I think if you've never seen it, you should hit the Original Theatrical. I guess they eliminated the Voice over due to confusion? It didn't confuse me one bit. It explains the movie in more detail and now that I think of it, seeing Deckard sitting around looking into space and not talking is sort of unneverving to say the least. I'm also a fan of the original ending. It definitely puts a nice touch to it. Yes the FC was very well done and the picture is outstanding but I'm still going to go with the Theatrical for now.
As far as the movie goes...eh it was actually short?? Then again for it's time two hours was probably enough. I thought the final cut was going to be longer in length and noticed it being the same run time as both the Theatrical and DC. All in all, I enjoyed the movie. I wish I had seen it sooner. Just never got around to it I guess. I'm going to give it a 7.5 rating for now. I've heard it grows on you after you've seen it a second and third time. I hated 2001 A Space Odyssey when I first saw it. I then watched it numerous times after and Now, It's one of my all time favorites. I'm going to go indulge the 3 hour docu of BR. Cheers

iam sure someone posted this a few days ago but i have a question,so read this first:
i wonder if many copies include that? did u guys check your copies?
While we're talking Warner, be aware that a few readers are reporting that some copies of the 5-disc Blade Runner set mistakenly include two copies of Disc One instead of a Disc One and a Disc Five (the Workprint version). Be sure to check your copies after you purchase them. Readers are also reporting difficulty locating copies of the Blade Runner set in various versions at different retailers, we suspect due to Warner's recent distribution system issues. If you're having trouble finding, be patient. The discs are coming, and they're worth the wait.

How large in the actual DVD case? Is it the size of a Blu-Ray case? Just wondering if it's something I can take out and put on my shelf while leaving the briefcase on display above it?

They added the voice over because the film was thought to be confusing, not the other way around. The voiceover tends to explain very obvious things, or just tell you exactly what you're seeing. I can't believe you like that extended ending, though. Woof! It's harder to watch the other older versions, because some of those goofs in the film just take me right out. If any feel demands immersion it's Blade Runner.
I've watched 3 version of the film and they all feel different inspite of being similar in length. It's very interesting, but with all the very little changes of scenes clipped, added, or extended here and there, it does make a noticeable difference to me.

On eBay, the spinner sold for $37.00 plus shipping, and the current bid on the briefcase set sans the discs is $41.00 plus shipping. Just to be clear, the latter is everything except the 5 discs.
