I was planning to hold out for an eventual US release but ended up giving in and just ordering it. I'm familiar with Japanese DVD pricing, and this is actually less than I expected it to cost (considering a single-disc DVD often goes for about $50). The part that got me was the shipping though ($25 / $27 for the EMS and Registered airmail options) - I didnt bother to look at the price of the others as theres a warning that they can take up to 8-12 weeks.
EDIT: Just canceled it and re-ordered at Amazon. Difference was about $30 in price (over 1/4 the total cost)

I preordered the 6 Disc Grindhouse dvd from amazon.jp with a payment option of paying at a convience store. I put a code into my DVD player to make it region free so i know it will work in that. When I get a PS3 will this work on that or not. also does anyone know how to convert yen to us dollar so i know how much this is going to cost.

I preordered from Amazon as well
I ordered mine from Amazon as well (around $85). I only have one region free dvd player, but when I get the set I'll backup the discs to DVD DL discs. That way they'll be Region Free, NTSC discs and will play on all my players! Using a dual layer disc will give me exact copies. I did the same with the Kill Bill Japanese discs. This way you don't have to worry about having 'region free' players.
