That's a whole lot of work man, you can get a region free player very cheaply, or modify most players once to be region free and then you're done with it.
Japan is already NTSC by the way.

Hey Guys,
I had a question regarding the Planet Terror steelbook from Best Buy. I didn't want to create another thread, so I thought I'd just bump this one up.
Regarding the "bonus" third disc for Planet Terror. Is it just Rodriguez gabbing for 27 minutes straight from one camera angle or are there movie scene cut-aways or any other film footage edited in? Basically, is this an edited piece with film footage, or just a straight dub from some guy's video camera?
I ask because I liked the Grindhouse special that was on FX. I, unfortunately, didn't like Death Proof at all. So when I heard Death Proof had that special as a "bonus" disc, I was hoping Planet Terror would either have the same thing, or something just as fun. I'm bummed. I really wanted that special, but not enough to buy Death Proof.
Any info is truly appreciated.
Thanks

Oh, and this set looks kick A**!!!!!!!!!!! Tarantino and Rodgriguez HAVE to do this for Region 1, or something similar. If they don't, then that would suck 'cos I'm sure they will sell here.

Walmart has preorder listings up for a Bluray (2-Disc) and a DVD (3-disc) version, probably to promote Inglorious Bastards

8/11/09?
If it's coming out that soon, shouldn't there have been official word by now?
Not that I'm complaining

If you look at the running time listed it is just the running times of the two extended cuts combined, roughly a half hour longer than the theatrical cut meaning it is most likely a repackaging with the third disc being the combined supplements from the previous two disc affairs (the extra feature discs on the original releases barely filled a single layer so it is more than possible.

It could be wrong, because i lists the blu-ray as two discs, while for the individual releases, Planet Terror was 2 disc while Death Proof was 1.

Re: Official GRINDHOUSE Page PART 2 (Death Proof & Planet Terror)
I am pretty sure this is the theatrical cut of GRINDHOUSE. I heard a rumor from someone in the know a short while back that this was coming and here it is. The running times listed are most likely an error.
So if there is anything good to be said about INGLORIOUS BASTERDS (which looks absolutely terrible from the trailer), is that it finally got GH out on DVD in its proper form.

Re: Official GRINDHOUSE Page PART 2 (Death Proof & Planet Terror)
perhaps the DVD may be
Disc 1: Planet Terror
Disc 2: Death Proof
Disc 3: Grindhouse
Or maybe it is just a two pack with some movie cash

Even if it is just a repackaging of the two existing extended editions in a single set, since I don't yet own either BD, I might grab it.
And I'm unclear, is someone saying the BD of Planet Terror is 2-discs and the BD of Death Proof is one?

With the DVDs, would they be the two existing releases combined? Those combine four discs totals. If that was the case, which film gets to keep it's second disc?
Same mentioned regarding the Blu-ray.
The extras have been completed for a year, if not longer now. The transfers have been made. The Weinsteins just need to release them. It wouldn't be the first (or last) time a DVD/Blu-ray announcement would be made around 6-7 weeks prior to the release date, but I pray this is true.

Re: Official GRINDHOUSE Page PART 2 (Death Proof & Planet Terror)
I hope it is the theatrical version that is being released. The only real indicator is it being listed as "Grindhouse" and not "Grindhouse Presents:...". Also it would make sense for the theatrical cut to be released, since the separate dvds have been available for awhile. The theatrical cut is being shown on cable occasionally, and is supposed to be released in Germany later this year(if I remember correctly). Also it was rumored to be coming out before the end of the year.
If it's just the regular current dvds packaged together,i'll be extremely disappointed and won't be buying it. I think both films work better in their theatrical versions than the extended versions. So the theatrical cut is what i'm waiting for. I saw it last year on StarzHD since a friend tivoed it. It was fun to watch that version again and I even liked Death Proof a lot more. It works much much better in 'shorter' form than extended form, that's for sure.
