I think it was the song from Kill Bill, don't know the name, but I'm sure if you search Kill Bill song, you will find it.

they sell for $30+ on eBay, you could be making a profit right now.

They sell for $30 in he store. Can't be much of a profit.

Actually, the Planet Terror one sells for $5 cheaper than the Death Proof one for some reason.

I just visited Future Shop and they had tons of Planet Terror and Death Proof Steelbooks. They had so many Planet Terror in stock, that they had a full display tray in over-stock.

Death Proof was cheaper by $3.00.

I have just been looking at the steelbooks and they seem to be fetching some decent money. Does everyone think it is worth investing in? Will it be a sought after OOP release?

Think of it this way: the segment of the population that spends ridiculous amounts of money on limited editions and the segment of the population that worships Tarantino and Rodriguez are pretty much the same

I'm not sure how sought after they will be. Here in Canada, they have "tons" of the steelbooks left over for both Planet Terror and Death Proof at my local Future Shop stores.

No, I wouldn't invest in DVDs .. at all. It's hit or miss. You'll never know which will fetch a good aftermarket price. Though the Best Buy Exclusives .. especially the Steelbook releases seem to be fairly popular. The other thing is that Best Buy doesn't ship internationally and there is a demand for certain releases. But which ones?

Before the Deathproof steelbook even hit street, someone had a worldwide auction running. It ended the same day of release. They pulled in $60. I actually did not like Deathproof and ended up selling it for $40 used about a week after release. Though, this is not to say that it's going to happen all the time. As a recent example, the Best Buy exclusive Transformers set with the mini transformer figures is selling for nothing. So, it's up to you ...

FYI, fellow DFW area peeps:

The Best Buy in Flower Mound (intersection of Long Prairie and FM 407) still had 2 copies of the Planet Terror steelbook in stock when I was there last night ($24.99).

For some reason stores in this area still have many of the recent store exclusives in stock. Best Buy still has plenty Grindhouse steelbooks, Fantastic Four 2 exclusives, Transformers sets (I would not take one of those for free), and of course the absolute terrible Spiderman 3 exclusive with that downright horrible kids mask. Just remember as long as people continue to buy this worthless junk they will never improve. Keep buying those 25 different versions!

Finally got around to opening my Planet Terror steelbook on the weekend. I must say, it's pretty nice having Death Proof and Planet Terror both in their steelbook incarnations, inside the regular edition slipcovers and then both safe inside that Best Buy [Canada] Grindhouse box.

I have a question that's gonna be REAL ludicrous, but I gotta ask.

A week ago, a friend of mine knocked over my Death Proof steelcase (while it was open) and unknowingly stepped on it. The plastic part of the case snapped at the spine (so it's the front cover and the spine together and the bottom half a separate piece).

Does anyone know who/if I can contact some company to get a replacement plastic case (without me having to resort to paying 50 bucks for a replacement on eBay)?

This is why I avoid Steelbooks and digi-paks when at all possible.

That's why I don't knock over my dvds and step on them - or let klutzes near them...

This thread needs more Grindhouse release announcements and less steelbook discussion.

I know, I know. Not your fault.

Looks like Disc 5 is the "U.S.A. 191-minute version"

1-4 appear to be the 2-Disc Extended versions.

Disc 6 has to be the bonus disc.
