I opened it. Inside there's an insert with a code. A pretty crappy deluxe edition if you ask me. Target usually puts out a unique slipcover or maybe a bonus disc. I thought the movie deserved better. There's obviously a demand for these unique exclusives.

thanks for the info. I think Warner & Target shoul have put up a notch further if they made the slipcase lenticular.

Tonight, after I got home, I decided to go to another Best Buy to get a shelf that they didn't have at my store. I was with my brother this time, and he started looking for a helmet set. They had signs all over the store stating that they were all sold out. While browsing the computer section, I look behind a box of hard drives, and guess what I found... a hidden gift set!!! My brother bought it immediately

I found the shelf I wanted, and we went home.

When I was in Bellevue Best Buy about 2:30, they seemed to still have at least 6. I only wanted the 1 disk, though, so they were still there when I left.

i slept through the morning. i was planning to get up at store open to get myself a nice helmet set, but alas, i didn't. ended up going to my local so. cal best buy store around 5pm and all were sold out. eh. i was sort of iffy about spending the extra money to get a bonus i don't really have much use for, so in a way i'm glad they were sold out. be default, i had to purchase the regular 2-discer. but after seeing all the pics and hearing everyone talk about how nice the set is, i regret it a bit. maybe by chance they'll get some more in next week. the employees at the store didn't really know for certain whether they would or not. they checked in the system and didn't show any on order, so maybe not. ah well. but i remember with v for vendetta it sold out initially and they did get more, so who knows?

I went to Suncoast and asked about the bonus disc. I was told I couldn't have one because I didn't pre-order the title from them.

I went around 12 in the afternoon and got me one of the three Helmet editions left at my best buy. I just checked online now and all the stores in my radius are sold out. I am shocked that this movie is so popular, I just assumed this would be just like the Clerks2 or V for Vendetta LE and be on the market forever until they have to reduce them down to sell.

A quick question to those who are gonna display it. Are you taking the helmet out...showing the side of the box with the helmet, or just showing the front of the box with the same cover as the 2 disc dvd?
peace

All but one in my radius are sold out (Beaverton, Bend, Clackamas, Salem and Springfield). Tualatin still shows AVAILABLE, though.

It's official, Bestbuy is run by a bunch of fucking idiots.

I just got my out of stock notice on PREORDERED sets.
How do pre-orders get out of stock?

I'm gonna call customer service line tommorrow and tell them they're stupid.
It's only fair.

Well, when the number of idiots ordering a product EXCEED the stock ordered.

Not sure why you fault BB for this. They have no way of knowing how many pieces of product will sell. And they are probably only alloted a certain amount in the first run anyway.

Usually a pre-order means that they have a certain amount available to be ordered.
Pre-orders shouldn't allow orders over what is available.

Hence all the people complaining in this thread, because they pre-ordered and have not had their sets shipped.

Oh please do! And do tell me how it went please!

Here's the email i got this morning

'This is an automated email to inform you that the following item(s) from your order are currently out-of-stock. We are making every attempt to minimize the wait for this inventory. You will receive a ship notice email as soon as inventory becomes available.'

Why THANK YOU best-buy!!!1!one! For this insightful email... JUNE 21ST!! I FUCKING PRE-ORDERED ON JUNE 21ST! If it's a first come first serve basis well i'm pretty sure i was one of the first 50 at least! no? GRRR

Like i said in my previous posts this is not the first time it has happened to me! Well it is the first time with Best-Buy but i had the same problem on a couple of occasions with Futureshop. I swear they have the worse pre-order policy i've ever seen!

I haven't opened my Best Buy giftset yet. I'm curious to know, though, for those who have opened it, is the DVD inside sealed in shrinkwrap with the slipcover and all the security stickers in place, just like the standalone 2-disc sold at retail?

That is pretty odd. I ordered my set last Friday, and it should be here today according to the tracking information. I'm not gloating or anything. I'm just agreeing that the pre-order policy is obviously screwed up if your set hasn't shipped and mine has.

Sorry for the late reply (this thread is popular), to answer your question, No the Hot Fuzz DVDs didn't have the Wal*Mart exclusive 2 pack special. Last week when Zodiac came out they had the exclusive 2-pack deal which included the first 2 episodes of Dexter.

I really like the exclusive 2-pack deals at Wal*Mart with curtain new releases. It's the main reason I always go to Wal*Mart first & see if they have the new releases every tuesday. Also the prices are usually a buck or so cheaper than Future Shop.

No. I believe they will restock, and copies will probably be available for quite a while. I know its not as popular, but its still easy to find their "V for Vendetta" exclusive, and look how long that's been out.

About 30 Limited Edition of 300 were distributed per Bestbuy Stores

What had happened yesterday are as follows:

1. Bestbuy Employees snagged a copy of it prior opening (Lets say a max of 5 grabbed a hold and kept a copy already of their own)

2. Early Birds Flocked the 300 Nest on door opening (an assumption of 10)

3. Early Hoarders or Auction Merchants grabbed more than 1 (It depends how greedy they were)

4. You got the In-Store Bestbuy.com customers (an assumption of 10)

5. And finally the word-of-mouth consumers who rushed immediately to stores/In-store pickup reservation (either they get some or NONE)

And today...

- Disgruntled consumers who didnt get the Limited Edition
- Blame Bestbuy Rant for screwing up (both online and in-store)
- Happy auction merchants
- Not losing hope for restock consumers (virtue of patience)
- Late buying frenzy
- Hoarders marked up value

Was there ever any info released on the exact numbers of the run for this giftset? I have a feeling this giftset is a lot more limited (due to a combination of production run and consumer demand) than the V for Vendetta set (even though I do like the replica of V's mask a lot more).
