I calculated shipping a little too high first time, finally got the weight and dimensions so I got it right now.

Since I'm in Asia they released the DVD a little bit earlier and I got my steelbook today. Pretty neat stuff.

Thats the one i bought from Yesasia.com. The only gripe i had was the mini artwork book with it did'nt fit inside the case!

so is there any language on the case itself that would denote this is specifically for R3? meaning if i was to put the R1 discs in it there would be no way of knowing any different.

Nope. I think the difference is only the small "region 3" printing on the disc, the R3 logo on the back cover (which you can easily remove anyway) and the content of the disc itself - the language and that you have to choose your it before entering the FBI warning and the Warner Home Video logo.

There is no language on the case, kind of like The Departed steelbook. On the rear of the 300 steelbook there is a picture of the spartan helmet & two spears, nice artwork!

Sent you a pm scott. To answer your question, no, unfortunately the art book can't fit into the case.

with a pretty hefty trim you can. the thickness isn't a problem.

(but then again, aren't dvd owners all about the OAR?)

But why are you bothering putting the R1 discs into the R3 case?

They are virtually the same discs apart from the subtitle and language options.

Anyone have any idea whether the Future Shop steelbook release will include any mini lobby cards (similar to what they did for the The Departed steelbook)? I'm leaning toward the steelbook now, and having those cards included in the package would seal the deal for me.

bc i am insane. actually, it is bc my region free dvd player is much less user friendly than my sony. my super remote has a hard time learning the functions bc it uses this 2 bit thing where you have to press two buttons to get one function to work. it is just a pain. i love the steelbooks and wanted it but plan on watching the movie a lot and the R1 gives me more freedom to do so. the region free player is used for exclusive asian dvds or ones that have exclusive extras.
i know it is crazy just for the case, but cheaper than getting the canada one.

If the spartan helmet edition is going to be a BB, I'll be there when the store opens.
