It's the same guy. Emil got dumped in toxic waste and splattered by the car.

The actor's name is Paul McCrane. He was also on ER for a number of years.

How does Robocop stand up over all these years? Hell I was 11 or so when I seen it for the first time. I know I've never seen the extended cut. So, fuck it I might just buy this. If its not too chezzy that is.

^Stand-up? How about it's (argueably) the greatest sci-fi/action film of all time? I know there are many others that could top that list, but Robocop stands the test of time as one of the best ever made. Every social issue it deals with is still relevant today, perhaps even moreso. It's never cheesy and the violence is still as impactful as it ever was. It's one of my favorite films of all time.

And the failed RoboCop 2s were pretty cool
I'd love to see an Unrated RoboCop 2 if such material exists

Are those Robocop Prime Directives Movies worth getting?

If you can get them for a couple of bucks. The makers clearly loved the Robocop franchise, but at the same same tried to crowbar it their other loves, like John Woo and Westerns. Works now and again, although the guy playing RoboCop is clearly too small in stature. Robo looks tiny in some scenes. Soundtrack is also not the best score wise.

I actually still like 2. Of course, I was 15 when it came out and I loved the robot's minigun. Damn, that kicked all ass combined. Nowadays I see it as (watered-down, but still) Frank Miller satire--brutally macabre satire, but really nothing compared to his comics stuff like Hard Boiled. Kind of a guilty pleasure.

And yes, Robocop is a sci-fi classic; I remember fondly the days when sci-fi films still could be intelligent, satirical, and also kick-ass (see also: Terminator). Nowadays, sf is none of these things. Sad.
In any case, easily Verhoeven's best American film.

I agree. No way they will make a R-rate movie like Robocop 2 nowadays.

Recently watched Transformer (live-action one), remind me of the final showdown of Robocop vs Robocop-2.

its still as violent as it was 20 years ago, plus the added 3-4 minutes or so too the movie make it even more bloody/violent.

this one has definatley stood the test of time.

plus its in my top 10

Frank, the proper way to present spoilers is to put the text in between spoiler tags, like so:

[ spoiler ]Remove the spaces in these tags to hide the text.[ /spoiler ]

[sarcasm]Damn, he ruined Robocop 3 for me. I'll never forgive him.[/sarcasm]On the documentary from the Monster Squad, Fred Dekker states "Monster Squad destroyed my career... then I made Robocop 3" or something pretty close to that. It made me laugh. Sorry for being off topic.

There is no reason to watch 3.

Ever. Not even a jetpack could save that movie from both sucking and blowing at the same time.

I would like some reviews of picture quality, etc... Didn't they screw it up in previous releases?

I find it really odd that even though this comes out a week from today, there is still no listing for it on Best Buy (Canada) or Future Shop's website.
