so...anyone's 'Theatrical cut' disc go a little awry at around the 1:11 remaining mark?
also, why the hell do DVD co.'s continue to not allow the DVD's audio to be switched during the movie????????? i hate to have to go back to main menu and do it all...such a pain. this and the new "Serenity" are like this and i can't conceive as to why.

I only have the first Robocop comic, as well as the three part Robocop 2 comic. They are all pretty good!

Just bought this last week and i absolutely love this set. Great movie, nice case, both versions, decent features. Although it is missing the Criterion commentary and the director's approved aspect ratio, overall, I would consider this to be the definitive edition on SD, especially for those who are not hardocre fans of the film. I'm happy with the picture and audio but I have never owned any of the previous editions so I have no basis of comparison. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
DVD Beaver recently added this version to their comparison:

-The comic opens with Boddicker's gang ambushing the cops which is reported by the news crew at the beginning. (I always wondered if this was ever filmed)
-Murphy goes to a cemetary (Instead of his old house) IMDB says this scene was storyboarded as well
-Joe dies in the drug factory shoot-out (BTW, I still can't tell if they used a different actor to fill in for Joe during this scene. Is it the same guy?)
-Boddicker uses gernades to try to kill Murphy in the end. I'm sure this would have been spectacular to see, but impossible to film.
-The comic ends with Lewis in the hospital (As seen on the deleted scenes)

I recall that the "Star Wars" adaption from Marvel contained the Han/Jabba scene. A generic-looking alien was drawn because, at the time, nobody (including Lucas) knew what Jabba would look in ROTJ.

The result?
It's the CORRECT ONE!
So thank you VERY much for letting us know that. You da man!

I wish I had read this thread or heard of this issue before I bought the Steelbook at the Blockbuster by my work. I got a 997, discovered the discs were the same, and googled the issue, and found this thread. Returned the DVD to the store and had them order a 998 from their other location in town. I just brought it home and checked it, and the discs are still the same. The 998 is on the bar code on the bilingual insert, not on the package itself!

Wow, the corrected discs were available at HMV and Future Shop since September? How did I miss this news? So are we all certain that copies with a bar code (on the paper sheet attached to the back of the steelbook) ending in 998 will guarantee a copy with a distinct disc 1 and disc 2? I'm just concerned about the news of one of the posters above who bought such a copy only to find that the two discs were still the same.
If this issue has been corrected I'm definitely going out to get me a copy.

Yeah, I'm thankful for the humble (he seemed to think he was rehashing known information but his was a VERY valuable post) person who made that news about the barcode change available.

I dunno guys, after looking at DVDBeaver's comparison (of five versions), if I understand the order of the screen caps correctly, the Lenticular barebones release from last summer looks better in some ways than the 20th Anniv. Steelbook--not as bright, sharper. From what I've seen of the Steelbook image, it doesn't look so hot.

It looks like Robocop is doomed to never have a proper transfer done. The Steelbook looks closer to the Criterion in color, but damn it's bright and soft. The Lenticular looks like a clone of the box, so the color is not to everyone's liking (skin is a bit red, Robocop is bluish instead of silver/gray), but looks sharper. I give up.
