This was posted on the forums at intervocative.com tonight. Maybe it explains why 3.0 no longer works. Looks like intervocative is suing invelos. This could be down for a long time.

As many of you know at this point (primarily from a posting from the.truth in one of the forums), IVS is involved in legal action with another company presently.
Due to the nature of the situation, there are things that can't happen and things that must happen. Vague, but unfortunately true. Here are two things we can say on this:
1. Legal counsel has advised that no comments from us should be made regarding this action as any statements can and likely would be used as evidence. Loose lips sink ships.
2. During this time, IVS is legally and ethically required to keep the status quo, so intervocative.com should not be disappearing, which some users have postulated could happen. We went off the air for a couple hours the other night when doing some server maintenance, but all should be fully copacetic at this point.
Because of #1, we cannot answer any questions regarding this, but all parties involved want to move in a positive direction in the matter.
Thank you.

Dammit. I hope this gets resolved, otherwise it's $30 down the f-ing drain. Bastards.

I am halfway into reloading all my flagged dvds and stuff. Now I guess I've got to go BACK and load my newly purchased movies into the old program. G-dammit.

Oh my! This is going to suck ass royally if I have to convert back to 2.4. I deleted my 2.4 program and database after I migrated to 3.0 and it looked stable. Since they changed from the 10 digit UPC to a 12 digit UPC, I'm surely not able to import the other way. That means I've got to manually input about 1800 discs again. Ugh!
EDIT: I just had an epiphany! I can probably download from my online profile and get most of the stuff, and only have to reinput what I got since 3.0 comes out. Whew!

I paid for a way for me to enter all my dvd's in a program for cataloging purposes. I am hearing from posters above that they cannot update there databases since the servers are down. I am at work so unable to test this. If i can still add my collection on an ongoing basis and still get the support i believed i paid for (Scanned art, dvd info) then I am worried about nothing.

Nope, with the server down, you'll have to enter everything yourself (art, info, etc).

I'm rather dissapointed with the quality of 3.0. Theres still personalization issues. I screwed up about 10 DVD's trying to edit the personalization of happy feet. Random discs got happy feets personalization such as price paid, where i bought it, even the sort title.

folks at the IVS forum posting about the disappearance of invelos have stated that invelos is refunding money for those that purchased version 3.0. check out this (lengthy) thread.

it appears the company that released 2.4/2.5 (IVS) has sued the new company (invelos) and was awarded a temporary restraining order taking down the invelos site. go here and search for case number 07CY-CV03512.
my suspicion is this is a dispute over either the name dvdprofiler or shared office space as (according to the service information) both companies share the same address.
IMHO, this is probably about sour grapes. ken cole (who programmed dvdprofiler, left IVS, created invelos, and subsequently released 3.0) has released a product that appears to be head and shoulders better than a product that IVS let languish for over a year with no updates and little support. my suspicion is that IVS feels it has the right to the name dvdprofiler - you will note that entering "www.dvdprofiler.com" now redirects to IVS and not to invelos. what will eventually happen is that this action will effectively kill both products for the near future while others migrate to more stable platforms.

I'm suddenly relieved that I never got around to transitioning to 3.0.
I never did understand the reason they changed hosts when supposedly the same people were updating the product, but I guess this explains it.

I doubt it's the end, but nobody knows how long it will take. I'm one of those who did not register until v3.0 and I don't like the prospects of being stuck with a non-functional or rather unsupported product.

luckily I haven't purchased many discs since I upgraded so it was a pretty easy thing to go to my old laptop, create a backup and send it to my new laptop and hit restore. I feel sorry for those who bought a ton of discs recently or got rid of the old stuff completely. I am so glad I kept the old version now.
