I'm getting awfully jealous of everyone who has this already. Damned mother nature snowing me in!

What is it, like a Halo 2 type metal case? How much was it?

I just blind-bought the 2-disk at Costco for $20.39. It better be as good as everyone says.

I don't see anything about a Martin Documentary on EITHER of these versions!

WHAT'S GOING ON??? Is BB the ONLY place to get the Martin doc?

No, not at all.
See, at first everyone thought that there wasn't going to be the Martin doc on the 2-disc, but then it was discovered that it really is.
I don't know about the blu ray disc, but it seems that it's a case of DD not updating.

I read in EW about the doc and didn't really think about it until I had the BB steelbook and it mentioned it on the features. A full-length documentary, even if it is not about the movie itself, really improves the quality of this DVD. Still...I yearn for a commentary. Scorsese is always a good commentator. Maybe in the future...

There was definitely a picture on some dvd site (I believe the link was posted in one of the Departed threads in this forum) of the back cover of the 2 disc that did not list the Scorsese doc, but the steelbook back cover print does list it as an extra.

All versions of it minus full screen is sold out in all the stores in my area, then again I knew it was gonna be a big seller in Boston. I'm sure there are tons of copies available outside of Boston.

Studios should take note at how much people are shitting themselves over some cool packaging and do this sort of thing more often - even if it costs them more, the buzz it generates is worth it.

Picked up The Departed for the third time now on DVD, I had to sucker up for the LE Steelbook from Best Buy, the pics posted of it convinced me to triple-dip. No more!

Shoveled my way out of our latest winter storm and picked up the steelbook. It looked like Best Buy had only about seven of them left.

While I was there, I overheard a depressing conversation. Some dude, looked like he was in his early to mid 20s, was looking for "The Departed" with the help of a buddy. He tells his buddy to look for the fullscreen version. His buddy says, "Wait, why do you want fullscreen?" To which the guy responds, "Because I have a huge, widescreen TV, so I don't need the widescreen DVD. Plus, fullscreen is better because it'll fill up the whole screen."

I didn't bother trying to help. The guy looked like he was confident that he was cool enough to know it all.

BB guy: Yup.

Isamu: Errr, how many do you have? A bunch?

Isamu: Cool! I'll be there in 20 minutes

BB guy: Err, OK

I get to BB and there's like 10 left!

Yeah, he was saying he would rather watch the stretched fullscreen image than deal with the black bars because it's 2.35:1. I guess he also thinks his TV just "makes things widescreen."

My Dad, 68, thought the same thing when he got his 16 x 9 set. "Now that I have a big screen, I should buy the full screen versions....right?"

It took me a while to explain, but I think he finally got what I what saying.

I'm sure he didn't know what the hell a steelbook is. He was likely just answering for the stack of all the Departed discs sitting there.

I went to the Saugus, Ma. Best Buy, and they said they never got the Blu-Ray version in so I just came home and ordered it from Amazon.

I got mine at the Dedham store at about noon. There was a big display, and plenty of SE & Regular editions when I got there. They must have gone fast after that.

What coupon? I searched the forum for a best buy coupon and couldn't find one. Any help?

I went and bought both versions.

I'm keeping the steelbook edition and the screenplay from the Taget set.

And selling/auctioning off the SAG one-disc/Target two-disc.
