Bye
Obviously they're standard cases... you couldn't fit that extra disc tray in a slimline case, it would just have one hub on each side of the case. Also, the literature holders are usually much smaller on slimlines, if present at all.

You'd have to be stupid not to know that Lucasfilm is going to have big DVD release plans with which to celebrate the anniversary, and we've been telling you that was the case for many months now. Indeed, during our last visit to the Ranch for the DVD release of Episode III, producer Rick McCallum confirmed that a box set of all six films was going to happen eventually, and animation director Rob Coleman even let it slip that the puppet Yoda from Episode I had already been replaced with a new CG Yoda to match Episodes II & III for the "future" release. T-Bone over at Star Wars Universe recently speculated about this box set, and we've been quietly checking in with our industry sources on it as well. Well, we've confirmed it: There IS a big, ultimate, 6-film Star Wars anniversary DVD box set planned for 2007. There will be more changes to the films, and there will be LOTS of new, never-before-seen special features - all the good stuff that was held back by Lucasfilm from the original Trilogy DVD release a few years ago. Think deleted scenes and more. We don't know if good, genuinely-REMASTERED versions of the original theatrical editions of the films will be included or not (though how you could call the set "ultimate" without them, we don't know). We don't expect high-definition versions yet, as those formats are just too new. We don't have ANY other details for you yet, so please don't ask. But as you consider whether or not to purchase the "limited edition" DVDs due on 9/12... we thought you should know that more IS absolutely on the way next year. 'Nuff said for now.
As always, please keep in mind that titles discussed here are tentative and are subject to change until officially announced by the studios."

We all have dipped how many times for these already? Now why would ANYONE buy an Ulitimate set that is not HD when you know its just a couple years down the road. If you have everything that is already released why would you spend money for another few extras. And give up the dream of having the originals anamorphic. As much as I want it IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.....

For those wavering on the tin. I just got back from Best Buy and am pleased to tell you that it houses all three keepcases of the widescreen versions. There is not a digipak type of packaging inside. But it's just that: a tin that houses the 3 keepcases. I'll post pics if I can figure out how.

I noticed my tin was slightly damaged in the back (it was hidden by the glued on spec sheet). So inspect yours carefully.

If the originals were only anamorphic enhanced they would be mine. But with a 65" WS TV non 16x9 enhanced is simply unacceptable.

The Tin was just too cool looking for me to pass up, however, it is a rip off considering you are paying $15 for the Tin. If you dont care about the Tin, go with Circuit City for $15 with lithos. The CC I went to had lots of them. How can you not buy these for $15 a pop?

I would have to say that the TIN is not worth $15 to me. Although, I could care less about the "unaltered" version since they are not anamorphic. Any closeups of the lithographs from CC yet?
And to answer the question above...I already have the box-set, so I have no need to spend $15 a pop on these...AGAIN.

there's three -- one for each movie. my CC gave me three, one for each of the three movies i bought. you should be getting a set. i must say they are very sweet looking (anything with the classic art is cool in my book!)

Can't believe everybody seems excited over the tin...but not the comics! I picked mine up at Wal-Mart today. Thought the comics would be "mini" versions, but it turns out they're full-sized graphic novels. They're just laying down in the box to make them fit.
