You make a fair point, TomOpus; sorry, nemein, I just get a little rankled (and, frankly, fearful) when I fear honest discourse is being squashed, but I understand it in the context of this particular thread. I stand by the admonishment of your use of language, though; I talk like a sailor all the time, but one expects a higher caliber of representational behavior from a moderator...

You know what I'd like? A deal for getting the Trilogy DVD set AND Lego Star Wars II together.

It wouldn't be a Star Wars thread without it spinning wildly off-topic I guess we needed a little mod smack-down before it spiraled to the point of getting locked.

You'd think some stores might do that. Sounds like a logical tie-in.

No matter how clean they make these, or in what resolution they show them, they will look like films shot in 1977, 1980, and 1983, respectively. It's only the added stuff that looks out of place. So your theory that putting these in anamorphic would make them look too clean or too new is 100% inaccurate.

Actually, anamorphic may make them look worse. You'd likely see the flaws better.

They make look subjectively worse in that it's easier to spot the flaws. But they'll look objectively better in that you're seeing the flaws because of the resolution boost.

What annoys me more than anything is that my HD DVD player will not stretch non-anamorphic material, which means I have to use my inferior Oppo DVD player.

Why not use your format modes on your TV to stretch the picture?

I know on my widescreen TV, it locks the aspect ratio of a progressive signal. So any benefit I would get from that would be lost from having the gray bars on the left and right of the image also.

Weird. Neither of my HDTVs do that. That truly sucks.

It will not be 89.99 here in the states... we got them in a few days ago and i think they were about 70 bucks... so a few more bucks list price than each disc.

Sale price is unknown ... until the flyer gets released online.

It's a Samsung 30" from 2002. I've even gotten into the service menu and played around and I can't fix it. My DVD player has a zoom function, but it zooms in increments of 2x, 4x, 8x. My setup is fine most other ways, non-16x9 widescreen material is just a major PITA.

I don't think anyone answered this, will the BB tin house the standard DVD cases, or will they have a different system to hold the discs inside the tin?

Now that I know the price, Im going for the Tin. The lithographs are nice but I know I will never put them up. They will end up in a draw for a few years then in the garbage after that.

I'm stuck between the tin and the graphic novels, which I've never read and seem pretty cool to me.

Anyone know what the prices will be at the WM? I'd like to order online but they are $20 per, and I'm sure they will be less in store.

Only $0.97 shipping if you preorder from wal-mart...

Edit: That's 97 cents each, for ~$3 total.

Here is what i got in at work

A display box of 12 dvds

ep 1-1 widescreen dvd
ep 2-1 widescreen dvd
ep 3-1 widescreen dvd
Star Wars-4 widescreen,1 fullscreen
Empire-1 widescreen, 1 fullscreen
Return- 1 widescreen, 1 fullscreen

It felt like an awfully light shipment especially for Star Wars dvds, but we will see how well that they sell on tuesday.

Sweet. I'll be picking up the tin at 10 am. The Tin at 10 ha ha ha. I picture this as a tin w/ foam inside to house the regular box set. Hopefully it's widescreen too! It would be nice if it also came with a booklet or something.
