TVShowsOnDVD is reporting a April 2007 release for R1, still classified as a RUMOR, but mentions nothing of it being split into two parts.

According to our sources, which supposedly got the info directly from the studio, Twin Peaks - Season 2 will be available on DVD in April, 2007.
Please remember, though, that this should still be treated as a rumor, and that no formal announcement has come from the studio. Everything's subject to change, so take it with a grain of salt until it becomes official. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know when and if that happens!

David Lynch was in Boston on Sunday for a screening of "INLAND EMPIRE" at the Brattle. I had tickets (purchased well over a month ago), and - as my luck would have it - had to leave town unexpectedly on Friday, returning last night, and missed it. Sigh.
However, there was a brief write-up about the QA in today's Boston Globe, and Lynch commented on the pending Twin Peaks Season 2 release, essentially confirming alot of the foregoing:

Answers a la David Lynch
David Lynch was his charming, inscrutable self at the Brattle Theatre Sunday. In town for a screening of his new movie, "Inland Empire," the director took a few questions, but answered obliquely. Asked, for example, about the bunnies in his new film, the "Blue Velvet" director said, " They're not bunnies, they're rabbits." Lynch did manage to make a little news, announcing that the second season of his long-ago TV series "Twin Peaks" is coming out on DVD next spring. At that, the crowd erupted in applause. Before the screening, Lynch attended a reception at OM in Harvard Square, where he chatted with Haden Guest, new director of the Harvard Film Archive, and to Cambridge City Councilor Brian Murphy. (The council declared Sunday "David Lynch Day.") The director later dined at Casablanca with Brattle Film Foundation founders Ned Hinkle and Ivy Moylan, and Brattle board prez Mike Bowes.

The Brattle supposedly holds some tickets for the day of the show, but I suspect you'd have had to camp out early to get 'em for Lynch. This one sold out quick. I would have posted my info for someone else to claim them, but I literally found out I had to travel and then left in the space of about an hour on Friday. Forgot all about the Lynch screening until I was on a plane coming home yesterday.

Any word yet on a new release of Season 1 (including the pilot)? Sounds like the April release will be Season 2 only.

I believe if you were really to quote lynch he said the Twin Peaks Season 2 release "should be coming out next spring." He didn't say that it was definitively comign out in the spring, nor has Paramount officially announced it either.
Last year, when the set was announced for Australia, all the boards kept saying it would be released in the US at the same time, it was even in Entertainment Weekly and other magazines misreported as coming out in the US, even though there was never an official announcement at all.
With this release in particular people keep jumping the gun and announcing things as if official, that people don't just wait for the official word. That, and people are always misquoting. The words "should be coming out" are very different from "is coming out."
That all said, I can't wait until it comes out in April!

Damn, I hope they release Season 1 too (or even better, a complete series box). I sold mine when everyone was so sure we'd only be getting a complete series set and not an individual release of S2. And it's OOP now too. I'd like to know one way or the other before the prices for S1 start going through the roof. I did hang on to the Pilot DVD, however, since no one seems to know for sure whether or not Paramount actually has the rights to it or not.

If Paramount would release an HD DVD box set of the complete series from start to finish, I would quite literally visit the studio and kiss the feet of their home video president.

I have the official releases of the US pilot and Season 1, but only a DVD+R set of Season 2. I'll be happy just to have an official release of Season 2, but if they can make Season 1 look even better, then I'd double-dip Season 1. 16 years later the show is still amazing!

I pity the fool. I just want S2 to have all the cool features the S1 set had - DTS and those cool inserted jump points to deleted scenes and factoids that showed up during the episodes.
