Mao was right!

October 30th. The Definitive Gold Box Edition. All of Seasons 1 and 2. "Most likely" the pilot (strong, strong possibility). Lots of new extras. Be there.

Damn good effort, Paramount!

I've had a sort of crappy day thus far (work-related nonsense), but this just brightened it up significantly.

Big thanks to all you folks who bought Season 2. Even thought we all (mostly) knew this was coming, if the sales figures hadn't been there for S2, it may not have happened. So cheers from me on behalf of the rest of the holdouts!

Great news indeed. I'll double dip again for this show.

This should be on its own thread.

This is great news. I will definitely buy it if it has the pilot despite owning the other sets. I really hope they change the cover art. The preliminary cover is horrible.

Hmmmm... I don't get the whole "gold box" thing, but it does sound sweet. With some new extras, a remastered edition of the pilot and :fingers crossed: DTS I might actually double dip on this. It's just a little hard to justify when you've already got the entire series already.

I was just thinking about the possibility of a big box last night. I suppose I'll bite again if the extras are right. Having never seen the show until the DVD's, it was worth it to get the second season as early as possible even though the possibility of double-dipping was there.

figures this is announced now, being that I just bought season 2 this past weekend. ah well.

If this includes the pilot (remastered) i'll be all over it.

HATE this cover art though...not fitting in ANY way to the series. Hopefully its more of a placeholder with better coloring (how about GREEN guys) coming in the final stages

Schweet! My Season One wil be on the 'bay shortly. I understand the great extras that it came with, but I honestly haven't watched my S1 set in two years. When the new set comes, I will probably watch the whole thing through once again and glance at the extras.

i have the season 1 and 2 sets but will still be buying the new set.

as much as i love david lynch, he really frustrates me with how he just release the deleted scenes as is, like for FWWM and now the Twin Peaks series too. he wants money to work on them and fix them, and if thats a real possibility, then great. but so far no one is willing to give up the money and so we get nothing. i wish he would give up the fight on these.

and ya, the gold thing makes no sense at all.

I predict a retail price of $100 for the complete set, on sale it will be about $65....Just a guess...

While the gold box doesn't really make sense (except in the "treasure" sense of gold), I do like the zig zags on the road and the sign being in color. I think it's interesting.

Excellent news on the box! Missed out when the first series came out, in fear that series 2 would never see the light of day. It took awhile, but they proved me wrong. I was totally expecting they would have a new pressing of series 1 after the release of 2, and I couldn't fathom paying the prices asked on EBAY. So truely awesome info indeed. Thank you DvdTalk Forums.

Same here. I'm tired of watching the pilot from the crappy disc I made and this is one of the few shows I know i'll watch many times.

No, the series is owned by Paramount now, but the movie is still owned by New Line.
That actually doesn't completely rule out the possibility.

Unlike its parent company Warner Bros, New Line is actually willing to license their stuff to other companies. "Short Cuts" is a good example, New Line licensed it to Criterion.

If Paramount actually tried cooperating with New Line it's certainly within the realm of possibility that New Line would play ball. The question is whether Paramount would even attempt to include it.

I'll happily buy it. I have this show on VHS (from original broadcast) and on LD (including that funkier version of the pilot) and both of the DVD sets...I will add this to the collection. Not parting with any of it. Can't wait to add this and I hope the extras are as good as promised.

If it's between the two, I'd prefer the broadcast version as well, but a bit of seamless branching to get BOTH would be even better. That's assuming there aren't any rights issues. Paging Josh Z . . .

Not to mention that "Twin Peaks" isn't even centered correctly at the top. Bad box art, goofy title...I'm wondering if this is "unofficial" official news (meaning someone just heard the date and came up with the rest)?

You got me. I'll find out when the rest of you do.

Glad to see this finally becoming a reality, but that gold box is hid.e.ous.
