Well, I'm sure that Lynch putting out a new film (Inland Empire) hasn't helped matters (that and actually getting his film released in theatres .... never a good sign).

Plus he works slooooow.

Plus there are his two-a-day meditation sessions ....

Just another chapter in the book of Lynch

I don't think that the second season of Twin Peaks was meant to be released in my lifetime...

He's been meditating twice a day since Eraserhead. The thing is he's only recently gone public and that means touring just to promote TM. I think that could add a lot to the delay of his filmmaking. But, on the otherhand, TM does open the creative juices, so I, as ever, look forward to his next offering. Maybe he is getting slower in hs work. Kubrick got slower toward the end of his career (12 years between his last two movies-- but let's hope it doesn't become that long a wait with Lynch). Despite the dealy, I'm still glad he is so hands-on about the DVD presentation, even if I have to wait. I have lots of other movies to watch still, anyway.

I was just being flip. Even though there is much truth to what I said. Lynch has always been slow. Eraserhead took several years to complete and as Lynch has been quoted as saying that he has been meditating faithfully for 32 years, that means that he started it while filming Eraserhead. So, meditation may have done much for his creativity but little for his productivity.

Still, I think the world is a better place for having the man from Montana around.

I get that the man works slow... but isn't 5 years enough?

I really want the season, but by the time I actually get to buy it - im scared its going to feel too anticlamtic...

Well, the series was in the early 90's, so it is already anti-climatic.

I don't know the math that gets you to five years though ... the rights changed hands within the last year.

Also, I heard season 2 was not as good as season 1.

I would assume he is referring to the fact that season 1 was released in 2001. 2006-2001=5 years.

The R4 set is still slated for Nov. 2nd, but I won't be at all surprised that is bumped as well now.

As an aside, Badalamenti recently posted on his Myspace blog about a Twin Peaks soundtrack release:

Dear Fans,

We are currently putting together a CD collection of music from the second season of Twin Peaks. The album is set to be released towards the end of 2006 along side the second season DVD set.

We are also putting together an additional collection, consisting of more music from the entire series: The feature-length pilot, The 2 Seasons which aired on ABC, and the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. We want your input!
Curious to see if it ends up coming this year or not.

Wow. It looks like my DVDTalk life has come full circle. Five years ago, the very first thread I ever posted here was asking if there were plans to release a second CD of music from Twin Peaks. Lynch fans are used to the waiting...

i know weve gotten our hopes up countless times but this is very promising news to me, via dugpa.com...

Patrick Meaney has a great review up on his blog. After the Q&A session, Lynch did a signing where he revealed that the 5.1 mixes for Season 2 were done and they sound great. He also revealed that the Deleted Scenes to FWWM were coming.

Is this true? Paramount has the rights to the pilot now? I knew they picked up the rights to the series proper, but I was under the impression that Warner - not Spelling Entertainment - held the rights to the pilot movie. Can anyone confirm this for certain?

It's so convoluted I doubt we'll know the true answer until we get confirmation on the new set.

It's my understanding that after a certain point the rights to the pilot reverted back to Republic Pictures, which Paramount bought.

I'd heard that, too, but I can't find any confirmation. There should be a definitive answer, but there doesn't seem to be. Looks like a case for the Bookhouse Boys.

Not related to second season, but this was on davisdvd:
"DVDrama.com is reporting that French distributor MK2 is in final negotiations with filmmaker David Lynch for over one hour of deleted footage to be included in a two-disc special edition of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. The deleted scenes - long a holy grail for fans - nearly made it onto New Line Entertainment's 2002 U.S. DVD. The 17 scenes Lynch had chosen, many featuring additional characters from the television series who ultimately did not appear in the finished film, were to have been remastered and presented complete with score and sound effects. Budgetary concerns, however, nixed those plans.
According to the latest update, MK2 is finally close to terms with Lynch to properly present the scenes on their upcoming DVD which now has a tentative release date of late 2007. In the meantime, you can still write to MK2 and read more about the footage at the great FWWM Fight For Deleted Scenes webpage."

Thanks for the update on Twin Peaks: FWWM.

Everytime I see this thread being bumped, I'm hoping that is because of an actual release date for S2 and the pilot.

Are there any plans for a region 1 SE of FWWM? If I get that plus a solid Complete Series box set from Paramount, then my soul can finally rest.

Paramount Home Entertainment has finally revealed artwork and a release date for their upcoming and highly anticipated release of the second and final season of "Twin Peaks." Newly posted listings by several Region 2 online retailers reveal that Twin Peaks: Season Two will be split into two halves, with the first three-disc boxed set due on January 31st, 2007 (happy birthday to me!) and the final half of the series due in April 2007. No official details have been released quite yet, but we do know that the episodes have been completely remastered by David Lynch with new high definition fullscreen transfers and remixed 5.1 tracks (possibly DTS). In the meantime, Amazon Germany has posted a first look at the packaging for the set.

It also appears, via Amazon Germany, that a Twin Peaks: the Complete Mystery is due in October 2007. Whether this the complete first two seasons combined together - including a high-def remastered pilot episode that was missing from Artisan's 2001 box set - is as yet unknown. Stay tuned.
Hey, that's my birthday too.
