Whoever gets this - please post a report on what is blurred and/or edited from each show.

So is DDD the cheapest place to get this? I am seriously considering it...

The video store i manage got this in today, i'm taking it for the full weekend so i will try to give some details on it throughout the next few days and i hope this might help any who are still undecided about purchasing the set. I haven't had the chance to watch any yet but i did get to open it. First of all, this set should be able to fit into everybody's bookshelf or shelving unit. I was kinda worried that it wouldn't.

2nd, each disk is a flipper. Not sure if each wrestlemania event is split in two or if there are just special features on the back. If it's a flipper does that make it a Dvd-18? Just curious. I usually hate flippers. THe packaging is also of the fold out variety. If you've seen the Alien Anthology Set, its pretty much like that.

3rd, this is my first serious problem with the set, besides being flippers, which i could handle. To open the box you pull the top half off, and then you see the 4 digipacks or whatever you call them. But the digipacks only hold the first 20 Wrestlemania's. Which caught my attention because i was looking for the WM21. Guess where i find it. Attached to the inside top of the top half of the box. Basically it looks like they glued a dvd try into the top of the box. Nothing is protecting the DVD at all. I can't believe they didn't just add it the packs. Did they forget about the last WM? 2nd Worst packaging Idea ever, onyl to the Undertaker debacle. Honestly, this is a sad, sad, piece of workmanship. I couldn't get the disk out very easily either. And if that disk becomes a floater, it'll have plently of room to get scatched up. The absolute first thing everyone will say when they see it is, WHY!?! Or if you did get a floater.. WTF?

Ok enough complaining, Other than that, the packaging is rather cool. Now i'm off to watch wrestlemania 1. I'll give details on if Ventura, Blurred out images, and quality either tonight or tomorrow. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and i'll try to answer.

Well here's some questions pertaining to Wrestlemania I:

Is the opening theme an instrumental of "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins? (That was the original theme for the event but it was overdubbed in the Coliseum Home Video release).

Do Cindi Lauper/Wendi Richter come to the ring to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or is it overdubbed? Ditto for Hogan, who used "Eye Of The Tiger" at the event.

To answer some of your questions: I have no idea on the opening theme. I don't really know Phil Collins music very well.

But Girls Just wanna have fun is used with Cyndie Lauper. Hogan's intro was with "I am a Real American". Are you sure that's not the right song for it?

Also, apparently the disks are not flippers. I tried the other side of the disk and nothing happened. SO basically they gave us double sided disks for no reason. Couldn't they have sprung for some disk art or something.

Anyways onto some good news. Ventura is one of the commentators with Monsoon. Also, the WWF logo is in full effect. I hope it continues for the most of the other wrestlemania's.

And just a note on content. I never realized how bad the first wrestlemania. Not the matches, which aren't the best. But the interviews and the down times inbetween matches is horrible. Lord Alfred Hayses seemed absolutely lost and looked like he was carrying a program just to keep track. Ricky Steamboat was by far the best wrestler at the event. Not just wrestling wise but his interview was decent too.

If anyone else has any questions about any of the other wrestlemania's let me know i can jump ahead if need be.

Nah - it was "Eye Of The Tiger" - but the Hogan/T vs. Piper/Orndorff match has been on other DVD's with "Real American" dubbed over, so it's not surprising.

Could you skip to Mania 17 and see if the WWF logo is blurred on the turnbuckles during matches.

Have you found out if there are special features on the second side of each disc, or is it just the second half of each show?

From his last post:
"Also, apparently the disks are not flippers. I tried the other side of the disk and nothing happened. SO basically they gave us double sided disks for no reason."

Kocheese, if you get a chance could you please check WrestleMania V to see if it includes the Pipers Pit segment with Morton Downey Jr., and the trailer for No Holds Barred?

Thanks for the information on this set. It is helping me decide whether to pick up volumes 1 & 2 or pass on them.

As far as the packaging for the mega-set is concerned, I'm not totally surprised that 21 is attached to the top of the box because I thought I saw a disc there in the picture at the WWEShop web site. Now I know I did.

Kocheese, do the discs for 18-21 have any of the original extra features on them, or are they barebones?

I'm sorry but the DVD on the top is very stupid, it can be scratched, if it was me, I would get rid of it and just buy the Wrestlemania 21 2 disc set....

I agree Freaker, I already own 21, and was debating selling it after I got this. Now I'll just give that extra disc to a friend in an extra case and keep my own.

That was Hogan's theme music (obviously a play on his role in Rocky III) from 84 to 86. Real American was originally written for Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham. When they left, it coincided with the WWF and NWA moving away from using commercial songs since they never licensed them to begin with. So they just took the song they owned the rights to and used it as Hogan's theme. It's too bad because the place would go ape$hit when Eye Of The Tiger kicked in.

Here's an update:

First of all, apparently the disks are flippers. Just not all of the disks are flippers. The first 3 WM are not flippers but i believe the rest are. The show is split over the two sides.

As for the extras, all i saw on some of them were interviews and stuff like that. don't know if you classify that as bonus features.

I just checked out WM 17 and god dammit, we have blurring of the WWF logo. VERY annoying. They did the corner, the belts, the logos on the ref shirts, the shirts on the camera crew, and even on some fan signs. VERY lame. I'll try to find out later today if i can see which WM it starts with because the first WM had no blurring what so ever.

So expect another update later.

OK here's the list of flippers and non flippers:

WM 1: No Flip
WM 2: No flip
WM 3: No Flip
WM 4: FLipper
WM 5: Flipper
WM 6: Flipper
WM 7: Flipper
WM 8: No Flip
WM 9: No Flip
WM 10: No Flip
WM 11: No Flip
Wm 12: No Filp
WM 13: No Flip
WM 14: No Flip
Wm 15: No flip
WM 16: FLipper
WM 17: Flipper
WM 18: Flipper
WM 19: Flipper
WM 20: Flipper
WM 21: Flipper

There seems to be rhyme or reason as to why some disks are flippers and others are not. The 3rd digipack is all NO flippers and the 4th is all Flippers. But the first two are a combination. Very Confusing.

Also i am guessing that all the blurring will take effect in WM 15. In each digipack there is the OFficial logo for that WM above each disk. The first 14 still have WWF in them, but 15 does not and rest of them do not as well.

More to come later.

Thank god I only bought Volume 1 after hearing the blurring, good thing I held off on entire set. Will pick up Volume 2 and 3 but pass on 4.

The reason for the blurring is in the settlement. The old classic block logo? That's still OK. But saying W-W-F? That's out. The Attitude scratch logo? Out too. Actually seeing the letters W-W-F together? I believe that's gone as well.

I'll probably pick up the Anthology around Christmas and chuck the 21 disc, as I already have 21 by itself.

For something that should be the greatest WWE dvd release of all time, I really can't comprehend how they have really dropped the ball on this.

How did they drop the ball on this set? They did all they could. The only things wrong with the set are things they have NO control over.

Well the unprotected WM 21 disc on the top of the box is one thing they could have changed. After the Undertaker DVD set debacle, where they put 3 discs in the same hub, I thought they could no worse, but they have proven me wrong again.

For something that should be the greatest WWE dvd release of all time, I really can't comprehend how they have really dropped the ball on this.
Have you seen their programming lately? Did you see the WCW Invasion angle? Did you see the ECW One Night Stand DVD with the JBL commentary? Did you see how they dropped the ball after the great reaction ECW got everytime on RAW and Smackdown? That's how WWE drops the ball. Add this boxset to the list.

My 2 cents:
Wrestlemania is the Super Bowl of wrestling. Each one should have gotten an individual elaborate release with 2-3 disc per WM. Then put it up in 2 box sets: WM1 - WM X and the other WM 11 - WM 21. Charge $150 -$200 per boxset and people would have been happy paying for them.

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised that the scratch logo is blurred. For christ's sake, it's been blurred on every official release ever since the change to WWE, why in the hell do you think it would suddenly change back?

Just another testament to the stupidity of Vince McMahon. If he had just held to the terms of the agreement he had with the World Wildlife fund instead of thinking that he was above the law. Hell, I'll bet he could at least release old footage without having to censor it if he'd throw a World Wildlife Fund ad on the DVD and toss them a donation, but that would be like admitting he was wrong, and we all know McMahon is incapable of doing that.
