Been mixed for me. The Ultimate Matrix Collection came with a separate bonus about Keanu Reeves' Constantine. And along with Apollo 13 - Anniversary Edition came the separate Sin City disc.

But Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2 both came with integrated bonuses, the first distributed on the outside of the packaging, but within the shrinkwrap, the other as a third disc housed inside the Amaray case.

I don't believe it! I'm really going to have to get Revenge of the Sith at Wal-Mart, of all places! A lithograph--if that's what Best Buy is planning--feels totally unappealing by comparison. On top of that, it will probably be available only to members of Reward Zone, of which I am not. Whatever they decide ultimately to offer, what could be better than 60 minutes of The Story of Star Wars?

They've got this thing about promo discs that I don't pretend to understand. There's a post in their support forum that outlines the rules, every so often we hound the owner to add them. If we can get more support over there, we might make a difference.

Episode I DVD has a new CG Yoda in place of the stoned, godawful puppet.

Uh, no, the Episode I DVD has the old puppet Yoda. The CGI replacement is nothing more than an ILM test and it will be included on the Episode III DVD. It would be foolish to completely rule out the possibility that this animation would be added to a future release of "The Phantom Menace" but the fact of the matter is this: there are currently no future releases of "The Phantom Menace" on the radar.

Yes, it's just a test. I didn't mean to imply that TPM was about to be rereleased, even if it sounded that way. Any Episode I DVD is probably a couple years away. But it's an incredibly safe bet that Lucas will replace the puppet Yoda in TPM with the CG version. Why? Because the puppet in TPM looks nothing like Yoda. It's hideous. Plus the fact that Rob Coleman has been talking about doing this since AOTC, in interviews.. If he had no intention of doing that, they wouldn't have even bothered with a test. Though you have to wonder why do a test anyway, if you know you can easily replace the puppet. Pretty pointless test.

Uh, no, the Episode I DVD has the old puppet Yoda.
Uh no, TPM does not have the old Yoda puppet. TPM had a new, redesigned puppet that was created specifically for Episode I. The old puppet from the originals was way too fragile to use.

OK, apparently a puppet that hasn't been used in 7 years and was subsequently replaced by a CGI counterpart doesn't fall into your definition of "old" but it most certainly falls into mine. You said "Episode I DVD has a new CG Yoda in place of the stoned, godawful puppet." and that is flat-out incorrect. The Episode I DVD has always had the OLD PUPPET YODA and the Episode II and III DVDs will have the NEW CGI YODA and that's how it will be for the time being.

Very cool. Looks awesome. Would be a perfect replacement for the puppet Yoda in TPM. He never looked quite right. Expect that might be implemented along with many other changes for the boxed set of all six films in 2007. Looking forward to seeing how Lucas further tweaks them for their final form (assuming there ever is a "final" form).

Sorry Terrell, but I agree, the text in your post does make it sound like that's a cap from a new Episode I DVD with Yoda being replaced.

I agree. Sorry if it sounded like that. But there is no new Episode I DVD. I got the cap from millenniumfalcon.com. It's just a test. But, you only do tests if you're wondering whether you can do something. ILM already knows that it can replace Yoda with no trouble whatsoever. So this is nothing more than a formality as far as I'm concerned.

Either way, there is no new Episode I DVD being released. Apologies for any confusion. It's just a digital replacement test being shown. However, let's do the math folks. When TPM is rereleased in the future, perhaps 2007, the puppet Yoda will have been replaced with the CG Yoda, and it's about as safe a bet as you can make.

I wonder what additions/changes will be made to the actual film. He tinkered little with Episodes I and II for their DVD releases.

I thought that the Episodes I and II dvd releases both featured the digital projection versions of those films, without any further modifications. I believe this time around, for Episode III, there were no actual differences between the film and digital prints. Guess that means that, for once, we'll be receiving the theatrical cut of a Star Wars film on DVD!

Actually, both Episode I and II featured additional changes beyond the theatrical digital prints.

I've yet to hear of any changes/additions to Episode III, although I'd be surprised if there weren't at least one or two trivial ones. Lucas doesn't seem to be able to resist make a nip here and a tuck there.

Nope, they added more stuff. Off the top of my head they had the extended landing scene in Coruscant in TPM and touched up the scene where Padme falls out of the ship in AOTC. Originally she bounced right up and said Yes! or whatever when the clone trooper asked if she was ok. In the DVD she moans and says "uh huh" so it's not so jarring.

I agree.

Though I really wish he'd add a scene with Yoda talking to Qui-Gon. The scene where Yoda tells obi-wan about talking to him is pretty odd without seeing. And super disappointing after Lucas saying for years he'd explain the ghost thing in the final episode.

Wow, I didn't even realize that Lucas made those changes to TPM and AOTC for their dvds. In that case, I hope the rumored but unseen scene of Yoda landing on Dagobah gets inserted.

Lucas was changing AOTC while it was still in the theater! Meaning, the cut you saw on opening day was different from the one you would see two weeks later.

Another AotC DVD change was Jango Fett's jetpack misfiring right before Mace takes him out. During the commentary, Lucas says one day he'll get around to adding a misfire effect for that bit and then is surprised to see that the effects team has already done it for this release.

Also, in AOTC, Anakin's confession to Padme about killing the Tuskens is extended a little. The line, (paraphrasing), "I'm a Jedi, I should be better than this" was not in the theatrical exhibitions I saw. Funny thing is, the "I'm a Jedi" audio clip was used in the trailer.
