I wonder what Anchor Bay's balance sheet looks like:

Money from Re-Releases of Evil Dead Series DVDs: 90% of net income
Money from everything else: 10% of net income

I can just hear them in the board room, "Well guys, profits are getting low - you think it's time for another round of Evil Dead DVDs?? Aye!"

I don't see any reason for them not to do an AoD BOTD edition, so I think we're guaranteed a 3-pack in the near future... I'll probably stick with my current "regular" editions, as I have a paralyzing fear of getting my discs scratched
or you can get the books to have and look pretty and never take the discs out seeing as you have the original as do most. i am happy to say i will only have 2 of each when my botd II arrives today. 2ed, 2edII, 2aod. that should suffice.

Hey, I didn't realize that this is scheduled to come out Sept 27. I've seen it on the shelves at FS since yesterday. YMMV

Anchor Bay no longer has the rights to "Army of Darkness".

In the US it's either Universal or MGM.

Poor Anchor Bay... Things have changed so much in the last 5 years...

Can't wait for this one though.

So, the rights went back to Universal? How does that work? Did they only have it for so many years or something?

Come to think of it, I remember now that the Boomstick Edition of AoD had the Universal logo on the packaging. Yet the discs themselves were the same as the previous Anchor Bay ones. So yeah.. I'm not sure how that works..

So, any reviews of BotD2 yet? Still debating whether to jump on the DDD deal.

When Anchor Bay distributed Army of Darkness, it was always under license from Universal.

Yeah it was Universal then but every bit of "Army of Darkness" merchandise released in North America for the past 5 years or so has had the MGM logo on it. It's very possible that MGM may now own the rights.

There's an ED2 thread over at hometheaterforum that has a link to another forum featuring comparison pics between this version and the last. Picture quality is supposedly improved (debatable though) and the framing is different. Link here: http://www.dvdforum.nu/forum/index.a...77&forum=3#new

I don't think it's really debatable considering the fact that Sam Raimi himself personally supervised the new transfer.

Show us a pic of the two books side-by-side so we can see what you're talking about.

From that review:

...I'm thinking that this is about the best it can/ever will look
I didn't think DVD reviewers said that anymore. In fact, I'd bet that this was said several times about the previous two releases, and will be said again. In this industry, they should really know better.
